Once a guest from Germany, a tourism journalist, had rebuked me heavily: "You did the work of a man!! you took care of the structure!! What is missing, is the content!! What is missing is the work of a woman!"

"Aetgar ba-Midbar" is a model for content! for the content of "nofesh la-nefesh", re-creation for the soul in the desesrt: 7 guests - 7 tents - 7 days and a focus of learning, healing, art. 3 hours per day guidance and providing tools either by the hosts or by trainers. See Fifth Succah Stage

Three "aetgars" were conducted with young people (14-18) during the summer holidays of 1994,
by me and my excellent team-workers: Yael Gavish, Uri Goldin and Michael .....

The first "aetgar" was the most challenging one, not only because it was our first experiment,
but because the first two candidates: Jonathan Troim and Shakhaf Alon agreed to take part only,
if Jonathan's five friends -boys - and Shakhaf's 3 friends -girls - were also allowed to take part.
These added up to ten people between 14 and 15, which demanded to break the rule of Seven!

.....when Yael Gavish (here seen as helping the 10 teenagers to cook) took over my place in the Succayah,
she managed to arrange another Aetgar.
The graduates of the different "Aetgars" came back as volunteers on weekends etc.
They now called themselves "Khotter" shoot , i.e. first khotter, second khotter etc.
according to the famous first verse of a famous prophecy in the Bible:

Isaiah 11:1 A shoot will come up from the stump of Jesse; from his roots a Branch will bear fruit.

One of them, Natan, grandson of the famous Israeli writer Aharon Megged became a team-worker,
which now - 1995 after I was no longer part of the Succayah - was the preferred term for "host" .

But then the "Aetgar ba-Midbar",
this magnificent "content" of a Succah desert hosting business
sank into oblivion....

There are those who think it a miracle to walk on the water there are those who think it a miracle to walk on fire I think that the greatest miracle is to walk on earth See the entire poem, which a guest had attached in the Rachel-Succah and which I stole from there, when I slept there during the Nebo-Let-Go event

THIRD STAGE

Third Stage: Development of a mobile model of a hosting business in the desert: Ohalah- Rihlah - Pyramidion

The last time I packed my personal pyramidal tent, was on March 13, 2005.
My star-children Zipi and Gal helped me pack,
while Yahia came with his pickup and brought it to my one-room flat in Arad.
Since then the pyramidal tent is awaiting the "future" in the corner of my veranda...
[only one other time - in 2012 - the tent was erected and used by starchild Boris, for less than a month, at the place I wanted to see as "Pni-el"...]

The triangular pyramid tent, the basis of "a mobile hosting business" in the future ["Ohalah" in Hebrew, "Rihlah" in Arabic, "Pyramidion" in Latin] was developed - first generation - already in 1992, by Ram Eisenberg, the desert architect, and me. "The tents act as a prism to the desert.

HABITAT IN THE DESERT

The tents .... are a retreat from the overly stimulative life of modern society-
they aim to maintain the fine equilibrium between man and nature.
It is a place for balancing oneself,
for a "recreation of the soul",
a place where guests come to tune-in to the silence of the desert:
to feel the naked stones,
and get in touch with wilderness undisturbed by man.

Living in a tent means to actually live in the environment,
the tent is merely an instrument for living outside.
In a tent you are exposed to the effects and forces of nature,
to the sun, the wind and the night.
Your true habitat is the landscape.
In the desert landscape,
one's own impermanence is constrasted with the eternal quality of the elements.
The tents thus provide a living metaphor for our life's impermanence and insecurity.

The structure of the tents is minimalistic. [he describes the 1st generation of R&D]
They consist of three planks of wood reenforced by a steel band,
the frame is elastic and capable of withstanding the strong winter winds.
The double envelope [in the 4th generation separated into one tent above the other]
is made of nylon mesh and burlap
[the burlap disintegrated within a year, but the aluminet netshade was not yet invented then],
creating patterns of transparency and permeability.
The tents act as a prism to the desert.
They fragment distinct qualities from its undivided continuum,
by framing the view, focusing on details,
and by transforming the wind into breeze and light into shade.
Their pure geometric form expresses the cultural abstraction of mankind,
contradicted against the virgin wilderness of the desert.

The tents can be unfolded and transported easily by one person.
There are no protruding elements around the tents.
stability is gained basically by the tetrahedral form,
enabling the tents to be erected on extremely difficult surfaces,
such as a cliff face, or a sharp slope,
turning the disadvantage into a benefit
by creating a multi-levelled space interior.
[After all my experience I would call this "a possibility" - but problematic!]

The proportions of the ten - 4x3.2 m (4th gen. the inner tent 333 cm, the outer tent 366 cm)
are designed for two mattresses,
leaving enough space for a small table and a carpet - the bare essentials of a home.
The tent's interior frames the natural "dance" of ordinary daily movements.
The seven small tents can be combined to form countless variations
of soft and transparent chambers, walls, courts and halls.

- but this possibility is not part of the Vision-of-Tents.
There twelve tents for guests
will be spread out around a "Mishkan" of four tents
for the hosts, for cooking, eating and activities.]

The tent project was designed and made by Ram Eisenberg during the winter and spring of 1992.
The physical construction of the tents was done on site,
using a solar powered sewing machine and manual tools.
They have been in use since the summer of 1992.
[2014: As I said, the burlap disintegrated,
and in 1994 the 2nd generation of R&D made of plastic-material, was a flop,
though the Aetgar-be-Midbar format took place in it 4 times.
Then - in 1996- I discovered that the aluminet netshade had been invented,
and therefore - in Sinai - I returned to the black netshade of the first generation,
but combined it with the aluminet netshade.
It was also in Sinai, where I started to use bamboo-poles.
Only the 4th generation of R&D separated the combined shade into two tents, one above the other]

Day 22- from among 42 days -
CHERISHED DREAMS

.... Consider this: It takes 21 days to create a habit.
Through our daily gatherings,
you have been creating a habit of Self-Love, life-mastery,
and daily focus on birthing a new, Divine YOU.

As you review these past three weeks,
what differences, shifts, and changes do you see?...
What initial intentions continue to root, shoot, bud and bloom?
What is dissolving, making space for the new?

Consider recording your reflections, as well as any recent ah-ha's,
s y n c h r o n o u s    e v e n t s   and guiding dreams.
Keep these in a sacred place where you can reflect on them, ...

These entries will provide a power-filled record of the journey,
adding insight and appreciation as well as
identification of patterns, synchronous unfolding and spurts of growth.

Every time you consciously attend to your Dream Seed,
it adds energetic nourishment for its growth,
and crystallizes its presence into Being.

A Desert Hosting Business is the nucleus of a vision about peace through an SPS Desert Economy. SPS is the treasure or resource of the Desert: Space, Purity, Silence, for which there is great demand in a crowded, noisy, polluted world

This is the place, which the sculptor Dani Qish and I prepared for the first Succah in early January 1990, Dani: "There is such good energy!" Rachel: "Exactly because of this energy people should come here yet not stay here, but I don't want to interfere with your creativity!" A month later - in a terrible storm - the succah was blown away by "the flying Angels". I had first met them, when in December I climbed up this hill, named "877" on the map (877 m high), which overtowered the wadi, which "was appointed" as the place for the model of the Desert Economy SPS-based Hosting Business. That foggy morning I was deeply depressed concerning the realization of my vision. Suddenly a saying I had once heard resonated inside: "Angels fly because they take themselves so lightly!"

Under an image of "the hill of the Angels' Flight" , at the end of the sculpture I wrote:
May the Angels, flying on the Hill guard my model, the Succayah, until the time will be ripe...
