After the breakfast togetherness of 4 families:
Ronnit's entire family, REgina's entire family, Micha's family without his
wife, and Immanuel alone,
Micha drove the German family to Jerusalem to visit the most famous places
in the Holy City.

Again a pretty composition:

After they had spent the night with Micha's family,
and followed Micha's advice to visit Masada,
they came to me, to Arad.
I let them have a short glance into the Desert
i.e. my "Wadi of Compassion'" ,
see Full
Moon-Full-Fill-ment 8 and Full
Moon-Full-Fill-ment 10, in 2007
through which I climb to and fro twice a day,
when I am in Arad and go to the
pool,
and then we drove down to my Bedouin family.
[see the entry picture
to my ARARAt website]
[and
see a few images of the family in the Nebo-let-Go-pages]
I hadn't seen the family since we - Cornelia
& her son with Yahia & Samira -
had made that sad trip to "Succah in the Desert", at the end of
2009.
And now, when I pondered, if it would be right for me,
to renew the contact by bringing my German family there,
and if it would be right for the latter,
it so happened, that the couple and the two eldest children stood in my doorway;
Yahia and Samira, Yusuf
and Hathra.
It was 2:30 PM and they had finished plucking tomatoes
on the fields of a Jewish settlement in the Occupied Territories, but on Israeli
land.
I said to Yahia, that I was afraid, he would marry Hathra off,
since in a few days - on October 9, - Hathra would be 18 years old.
He promised, that this wouldn't happen soon.
The ninth of October was also the date of my sister's, Regina's mother's,
birthday.
It was clear now, that we would come and visit them.
Moreover, I had asked Ralf, if by chance he had a superfluous computer,
and he had brought an old and very heavy laptop all the way from Germany!
It's good, that I have that beautiful 2004 photo
of me and Hathra on
the SongPage, which is dedicated to her ,
for now she is a woman, a deeply religious Muslim woman,
and unlike her mother, who agreed to be photographed, hesitated so much, that
Ralf didn't dare to take her or her sister's picture.
But the intimacy and deep bond between me and starchild Hathra, as shown on
that picture, was there as always in the past...
with Samira and Tina
Since these are all the photos, Ralf has sent me, I must
stop abruptly.
I do hope, that Yahia will keep his promise
and bring Hathra and the laptop to a friend who understands about computers,
will reformat it and put on it Hebrew or even Arabic programs instead of the
useless German ones.
and I desire with all my heart,
that the very fact of "having a computer"
will boost Hathra's self-esteem and let her grow towards realizing her dreams,
like the old one - of becoming a moderator on television!
After we came back to my home, I explained how they
could find their way in my "hotel",
and I myself went to Tzippi's house, 4 minutes further up my street, and slept
in her room.

The next day, Monday, October
18, 2010 , we drove to the Salt Sea.
In order to guard their family intimacy,
I suggested to wait for them at "my" place, the
peninsula ,
until they would return from a hike up the Nakhal David,
but this time they asked me warmly to accompany them.
How often did I climb up to the waterfalls, ever since 1960?
Most memorable - because of the photos I could take! -
was my
hike with Jonathan
Regina - Rocks - Rivulet
I had
planned to be around 3 PM above "Noah's
Shore", so they had an hour for shopping cosmetics at "Ahava". Since I do not enter any "Occupied Territory", and no longer walk into the settlement "Neve-Shalem" and definitely judge the company with its prepostorous name: ahavah=love I stayed behind and used the hour to slide down to the cave, mostly on my behind, since the path I made has not been maintained for 6 years, and clean up, what there was to clean up, which was relatively little. Only Bedouins or very smart trackers reach Noah's Cave. I also gathered , then and later, bits and pieces of dry, not salted, twigs for the fire which I intended to light, in order to make tea and warm the pittahs, which we had received from Samira. I had brought my old Sadj with me for that purpose. |
I'm
often asked, why, if I'm that strict in not entering the Territories, I allowed myself to live myself high up at "Metzuqee-Dragot", which was the original spot of what is now - below - Neve-Shalem. The answer is this: As I told, after half a year at the Red Sea, at the border of Jordan, Tamir, my partner, convinced me, that Eilat was not the right place for us: "We have a tent, which symbolizes the four nations, Israel, Egypt, Jordan, Saudi-Arabia, but its the Palestinians with whom Israel is in conflict. There are no Palestinians in Eilat. We have to move to the Dead Sea." It seemed logical, that the one place which agreed to host us (as workers) was Metzuqee-Dragot, of which nobody was even aware, that it, too, belonged to Palestinian Land, though desert land without any agricultural value.. I, soon, made contact with the Palestinian Society for Nature Reserve, hoping, that together we could realize my vision about "Peace through Desert Hosting Economy - based on the Desert's advantage SPS" On the exterior level nothing materialized, not even a relatively small "project". Again: it was "logical", that the next stage was at Ein-Gedi Fieldschool in Israel.. |
The border between Israel and Palestine above the Salt
Sea and Noah's Cave, March 2004
See more pictures of both experiences:
our delight in the sweet waterfalls of Nakhal David and our walking along
the Salt Sea
in "Noah's
Shore: the Bereaved Mother Sculpture" and "the
Border Sculptures"
The sun has long since disappeared, when we women
enter the Salt Sea, Regina to the left, I to the right,
the twins [Tina in the blue bikini] in the middle,
first back to back, then face to face
Later Ralf wrote, that sitting at the fire in front of
Noah's Cave was
their strongest experience in Israel.
For me - the very fact - that the Cave, which I carved out and in which I
lived for 150 days - is still there,
and a fire can be lit up ~~ to gather people together ~~ while overlooking
the Salt Sea by day or by night,
is very precious!
Then we climbed down to the dust-road - difficult for
me, despite the half-moon,
easy for the sportive girls and their parents...
We walked along the silent salty sea and drove back to Arad,
where we parted again: they slept in my castle and I slept in Tzippi's bed.

See pictures of our common breakfast , while still in Arad, on my veranda
This was to be the last day together,
though I had planned to stay with them till the end, on Thursday night.
But I was glad I grasped in time, that they wanted their family intimacy...
I only asked them to bring me to my friends in Neve-Eitan,
drive north some and enjoy the Kinneret without me,
then fetch me and drive together to their last stop: Safed.
After I parted from Regina, Ralf, Dominika and Christina,
our last activity having been: singing German canons...
in Genine-Gita's and Ronny's B&B castle in the old city.,

I enjoyed being with Gita in their home at Rosh-Pina,

It is only today, on November 22, 2010
- that I've completed the sequence of compositions
with both, my own and my German family's photos...
