On
September 13, 2010 I suddenly felt I should adapt this tune to a second stanza which would finally make my most quoted prophecy singable! It appears at the end of the 15 books of Prophets, which - in all Christian editions of "The Bible" - is also the end of the "Old Testament"... Maleachi 3 end |
Towards
the end of September 2010 I came across a verse from Isaiah 44 which clearly fitted the same tune, and demanded the same chorus! The prophecy, if understood literally, geographically seems to support the infamous "settlers" of the Westbank, but the chorus defies such interpretation: ye shall be a blessing for the nations! |

On March 21-23, 2013 the last stanza attracted
an imperative
"let's not despise the day of small things",
after I heard someone - in a talkshow about Obama's
visit to Israel -
using this verse as if it was part of the daily language:
"let's not despise the day of small things"
I don't remember, to what he referred,
but what I refer to, is the 21st of December 2012,
a date towards which so many people yearned for a visible, tangible "shift"

While [Sept. 27, 2010] I was so moved by the re-discovery of "ki mi baz [despises] le-yom qtanot", I happened to hitchhike with this girl and her dog "Baz" meaning: "falcon"! |

discovered a similar verse and discerned for the first time, that the root "k-r-t" produced two sharply contradicting meanings: "to cut off" and from there "to exterminate" versus: "to sign a pact, to make a covenant"[as in the prophecy of Hosea ] . At the same occasion, when I read the verse that precedes this one' about the Messiah (as Christians understand "thy king, lowly and riding"), who rides on an ass and on the foal of the son of asses [asses , not ass!] I thought, was there a symbol in the fact, that when I asked for a donkey, a wild foal and two pregnant females were forced on me in the Succah? see about Yishmael, Bilhah and Zilpah in Succah-in-the-Desert |

Another prophecy about a new Biosphere

recent song about "the joy that forgot its cause"
I owe this song to myself!
How?
Recently I started to read the book, which I've written almost 40 years ago,
though it was edited only 30 years ago:
the jewels of interpretations, which I picked out from the mostly technical
work of translation,
done by Martin Buber and Franz Rosenzweig, my father-in-law,
who died 9 years before I was born.
I owe my deep love for the Hebrew Bible to those two men,
who, just before the eruption of the Nazi epidemy,
gave Germany a gift, of which Germany is not aware until this day:
The Book of Books translated in a way, that goes to the root of the Biblical
way
to transmit messages - through stories, figures, poems and words - that help
us to live.
Since I'm opening the book before sleep randomly,
it so happened, that I came across the last page of the manuscript
which I uncovered in the Hebrew University of Jerusalem in the early seventies.
My comment to Isaiah 65:25b surprised me: how could I have forgotten this?
Immediately the desire arose to merge Is. 11 and Is. 65 into one sung message!
Once the song was singable, I was even more surprised, that
I understand part of the lines of Is. 65 by contrast to B-R!
And this despite the fact, that this was the very last passage, to which my
father-in-law related, before he died.
"Relating" meant: having his wife looking into his eyes, guessing
a letter, composing words and sentences and dictating those to a secretary!
HOW come, that these great men missed the magnificent metaphor of "like
water covering the sea", by saying "sea-bed"?

Whatever "jewels" I chose- they needed immense editing and commenting. But rarely did I add a comment of mine that surpassed my task - as this one: "Buber's proposal for Isaiah 65, 25 nicht werden sie Boeses verueben - nicht werden etwas verderben auf all dem Berg meines Heiligtums [usual English translation: They shall not hurt nor destroy in all My holy mountain My comment: This passage from the so-called Trito-Isaiah (called "Collection of speeches by B-R), partly contains verbal quotes from the book of the first Isaiah, chapter 11.The 3 lines are from Is. 11:9, except that there the sentence has a continuation: [my translation of B-R's wording] for the earth is full of MY knowing, like water [plural] cover the bed of the ocean. |

July 6, 2011 "A Star is born" was with Idan Reichl, and the duo Nadav and Asaf sang a song, which moved me deeply, though its content is the opposite of something which I can "celebrate as right in the world": "Imma, Abba and all the rest", lyrics by Reuben Politi, who describes the feelings of a soldier "out there". He fell in the Yom Kippur War 1973. I do not want to learn to sing it, but to insert it here as a contrast to the song "If" |

The tune of the first two lines are a plagiary from the introduction
to"So Far"
the most famous song of the band "Ha-Banot
Nehama"["The Comfort Girls"],
After Ayelet's celebration
on Dec. 27, 2010, I stayed overnight with her family
and the next morning Arnon,
her brother, wanted to spend time with me.
I also listened to his learning to accompany songs on his keyboard piano.
It was Arnon, who, some years ago, made me aware of the Benot Nehama.
The song, which he now played, began with a tune, which touched me deeply.

I asked him to let me record just this line on my digital recorder.
From then on I looked for a text which would fit it,
and lo - the verse about God as a woman-in-labor,
which had been waiting for a tune for many years -
a text of 13 syllables - fitted this tune exactly.
It took some time of letting this tune and this line imprint themselves in
my brains,
and only then did I see the line, which preceded this one, also composed of
13 syllables.
And only after this double line - in tune with the intro of "So far"
- was ingrained in me,
did the rest of the - selected - prophecy find its tune too.
