The River Arnon from the Kingdom of Jordan
to the Salt Sea

One of many of Arnon's most ingenious creations
|
To my 68th birthday - August 2006 - Arnon
created a funny demonstration
of part of the songs, which Rafael and I had made, when our children were
small.
"I want to make something for grandma which she
loves!
She loves
the desert!"
- so there is the desert with a palm-tree and a red flower in the center,
and to stress it - on the sand also a red little blessing from Ayelet, his
sister.
I wonder why red? I shall see!
But the desert is not enough, Arnon muses, maybe he should let a balloon fly
to the moon?
No!
for the moon is full of holes
and in them small or big pains!
So, maybe, I should make her a boat so she can sail
to the Red Sea.
This may be the first experience he remembers consciously, floating with grandma in the Red Sea, when he was two, 1998. Sleeping in my bus on a blanket, which now (2014) is worn out. cut in two to cover my tent folded on my veranda at Arad totally wetted by 40mm rain on May 8 |
No, for she cannot reach the Sea because the red flower is in her way! I see! the red flower, his grandparents' first children's song in 1963. So, maybe I should plant a big tree for her in the sand. But no! the forester will come and fell it and hang a lamp on its top! [See the song about the Electricity Pole!] The conclusion: to create all these hings in card-board and paper and colour... |

The next day Arnon wrote to me, |
"What are you doing,
Arnon?" "I'm repairing the Dead Sea!"
April 2003, when Arnon was 7 years old...
See more of Arnon's delight in "repairing" the Dead Sea, while his
grandma is swimming in it:

Sept.12, 2013:
Now , in summer 2013,
Arnon was made responsible
for building the annual raft of the No'ar Oved,
not at the SaltSea but at the Lake of Tiberias.
The River Arnon in the Bible
|
The Arnon. The water from the Transjordan tableland flows east from an elevation of more than 5000 feet to the Dead Sea (nearly 1300 feet below sea level). This picture shows the Arnon a few yards before it reaches the Dead Sea. During the rainy season there is much more water. Photo © Ferrell Jenkins 2003. |

Ezekiel
47 - King James Version
[Open other Versions on http://www.biblegateway.com/passage/]
2Then brought he me out of the way of the gate northward, and led me about the way without unto the utter gate by the way that looketh eastward; and, behold, there ran out waters on the right side. 3And when the man that had the line in his hand went forth eastward, he measured a thousand cubits, and he brought me through the waters; the waters were to the ankles. 4Again he measured a thousand, and brought me through the waters; the waters were to the knees. Again he measured a thousand, and brought me through; the waters were to the loins. 5Afterward he measured a thousand; and it was a river that I could not pass over: for the waters were risen, waters to swim in, a river that could not be passed over. 6And he said unto me, Son of man, hast thou seen this? Then he brought me, and caused me to return to the brink of the river. 7Now when I had returned, behold, at the bank of the river were very many trees on the one side and on the other. 8Then said he unto me, These waters issue out toward the east country, and go down into the desert, and go into the sea: which being brought forth into the sea, the waters shall be healed. 9And it shall come to pass, that every thing that liveth, which moveth, whithersoever the rivers shall come, shall live: and there shall be a very great multitude of fish, because these waters shall come thither: for they shall be healed; and every thing shall live whither the river cometh. 10And it shall come to pass, that the fishers shall stand upon it from Engedi even unto Eneglaim; they shall be a place to spread forth nets; their fish shall be According to their kinds, as the fish of the great sea, exceeding many. 11But the miry places thereof and the marishes thereof shall not be healed; they shall be given to salt. 12And by the river upon the bank
thereof, on this side and on that side, shall grow all trees for meat,
whose leaf shall not fade, neither shall the fruit thereof be consumed:
it shall bring forth new fruit According to his months, because their
waters they issued out of the sanctuary: and the fruit thereof shall
be for meat, and the leaf thereof for medicine. |
