My German-Christian
mother died in my arms in Israel, after I had cared for her in my home in Israel during her last 18 months. We buried her in the Templers' cemetery in Jerusalem, exactly opposite the entry to the famous road "Rachel Immenu", Rachel our Mother. My two closest friend Yanina, persecuted and uprooted by German citizens, and Nimr Ismir, in 1948 uprooted by Israeli citizens from his Arab-Christian village Bir'am, helped me to install the iron integration of Cross and Star of David on my mother's grave. 1985 |

Sing
with Jeremia's and Joh. Seb. Bach's joy about God rejoicing over us
August 18, 2007:
I just discovered this
2010 (continuation of song page)
Yanina comes out of her house and garden - to drive
me to my children's home at Shoham
- towards a "Grandma-Day with the Quintet".
The contrast between Yanina and me, in our life situations
and as persons, even in our bodies (she is small, I am tall) is stunning!
I remember, how the olive-tree (a gift from Nechama, a neighbor and Yanina's,
not MY, friend... ) was planted 44 years ago.
The cocos-palm tree, of which the stem is visible here, was planted after
1980, i.e. after I had left my marriage and our village.
Since then I lived in rented flats, in a bus, in a tent, in a cave, and even
"nowhere" in the desert of Israel and Sinai,
and only for the last 5 years I've
been "settled" in a one-room rented flat.
But there is not only such contrast, which helps us expand.
What connects us so deeply, is expressed in
that song to her 70th birthday:
True
friendship does not collapse, even if anger hides love, even if opinions are split, deep down a flame will never die. Already in the Beyond we associated: "We'll be born on both sides of the divide!" To your new country we crossed! Twins were born - who will not rejoice! On a journey of healing we wriggled and writhed and together with ouselves we shall heal Creation! We also became wise enough to enjoy life and living. from the joinder you-and-I there will be rebirth. |
We are committed to heal ourselves into wholeness
and - by extension - all of Creation...
