and Water in the Desert learnt from a TV-program, Pesach 2013, with Sara Beck and Avigail Antman, recorded on my digital recorder. When now searching for Avigail, I discovered "Kolekh", a blog of orthodox women, [listen to the tune to this song in the background] who want to make a change. This causes me great joy - in view of the deepening gap between religious and non-religious Jews in Israel. I must confess, that I, too, tend to throw all "religious" Jews in one pot, - even judge them according to "the worst" group among them, the Haredis. I know that this is a big failure of someone who knows and preaches the Four-Species-Song [s. to the right] Therefore I'm grateful for meeting Sara Beck and Avigail Antmann and the man who appearw on that video, Rabbi Benny Lau and all those whom I do not know or of whom I'm not aware of, who dedicate their lives to making their people expand their beliefs, and to reconciliate with the rest of Israel, as I dedicate my life to make every human in Israel, in the world, come in contact with their FEELINGs, vibrate and womb them and thus reconcile with every other human or nation. "Once humans know who they are vibrate and womb what they feel, there'll be zest ~~~ full-fill-ment, no need for war!" |

From
my page about "Paula" HANDS ON EYES (Paula calls this "a very important exercise", and later "Body's Self-Help". In my experience it's the main key to Body) "As with the other keys, this came to me of its own accord. "...place your hands in front of your eyes, without pressure and in a manner that is comfortable. Your eyes may be open or closed, and your hands should not actually touch your eyes. Your palms should be directly in front of your eyes. Your hands will probably change position on their own ...to find the position that is most suitable for you. .. think of pleasant things.. "It is usually performed lying down ... (but for older people a method of doing it while sitting is described) your eyelids will begin to contract and relax and, with them all sphincter muscles. If you keep your hands in front of your eyes for at least ten to fifteen minutes, your body should begin to function freely, with contracting and relaxing movements generally occurring in painful or problematic spots. These may be movements of limbs or organs in which painful processes began even many years earlier. Your body may begin with almost imperceptible movements or with very strong ones. You may feel cramps being released, and slack and painful muscles gradually relaxing and growing stronger. This is the body's self-help. ... light eyelid-contracting prior to "hands on eyes" will make it much easier to cover the eyes and be aware of what is going on with the muscles in the rest of your body. |
This is the story of this song: It was in 1986, when I was finally free to really move with my mobile home. Following a report in a newspaper about me, "that strange woman", I got a letter. The man invited me and my bus into his orchard in a village close to Rehovot. It soon turned out, what he had in mind... When I refused, his friendliness turned into ~~~ eviction. But before I could move out, I got afflicted with the worst kind of a "stiff neck". I dragged myself - "walking", hitchhiking - to "Kaplan" Hospital . I waited for hours, but they couldn't help me. I dragged myself back. My "host", who worked in the orchard, showed a cynical attitude. (I'm aware that I'm telling this story as a victim! But my "parentalness" was still in its infancy then) On that same day there suddenly stood an "angel" above the abyss, as usual in my life.... It was a man from a neighboring village, whom I had known before. He seemed to be in love with me, but did not pester me in any way. When he saw my situation, he went straight back to the phone in his house, in order to call my daughter. My daughter fetched me and put me up in her home at Ramat-Gan. It was then, that I dared to lift up the receiver myself and hesitantly called Paula Garbourg. She had one simple advice: "put your palms on your eyes and let Body do what it wants to do!" After less then 20 minutes my pain was gone - totally, absolutely! Why did I remember only now, that this "key to Body" was the one who had caused me to wake up!? It was during one of my first lessons, in 1983, with Paula in her flat. She asked me to sit on a chair, put my elbows on a table, heightened by some books, and put my palms on my eyes. While she walked away to do some chore in the house, I suffered unproportionally. I didn't tell her so, "of course", and she, when she came back, only watched me and said: "How strange, nothing in your body is moving at all!" Surprised I took my palms off and exclaimed: "Is it permitted, that something should move?" 45 years of a self-restricted life! For I had not only frozen my body because of lack of consciousness, but because of a horrid Judgment: 'Movement of Body is forbidden, until you are granted permission!' |
Another
description (by Motti Reshef) might also be helpful: Put your palms on your eyes while your eyes are closed. This is the excercise with which we begin and end any other. The goal of this special exercise is it to enable Body, to do what is right for it in that moment, while the only limitation is, that the palms are placed on the eyes. It is recommended and worthwhile to do this exercise for some time for then the body learns the way to activate itself as a reaction to this exercise. |
Another eye-song in German and in Hebrew: "Close
my two eyes!"
Schliesse mir die Augen beide
When
re-reading the advices in "The
Program for better Vision", and grasping, how much "acuity of vision" is damaged by tension, a line came to me and with it a tune, so I may truly internalize it. When expectations from others cause tension, I'm giving my own eyes more loving attention. An additional stanza in June 2010, before my voyage to Paris and Ireland When running and reaching bus, train, plane cause tension, May 7, 2014, see above in "FeltDays", what kind of nightmares I still attract in my dreams! I'm giving my own eyes more loving attention. |

Now there is a new Body song,
which includes my eyes
I'm singing one or two stanza's
each morning while taking care of my teeth
(1) Let my teeth grow! and let my eyes see! let my groin know, it's cared for by me! and take off the pressure from what gives me pleasure: my bladder in Body is radiating thee, is radiating thee . (2) [Second stanza in Hebrew, see in right frame] [Let my shoulders carry my head upright, Give a smile to my eyes, to my lips, Contract and release the muscle in my behind, My breath then will breathe freely in my chest-case]. (3) Let your air pass my throat, clear and free, let my lungs fill with JOY TO BE ME! Replace the infections by loving affections between all the cells of thy kingdom-to-be! (4) Let my blood flow through the ribs of my chest, Let my nerves hug bones and fascia of breast, Relax my back's tension and turn my attention to reach right decisions and choose what is best. |

third stanza created itself by working through a night of sickness

And - to the same tune
- a song about total acceptance of every single feeling (200
frames in one second...)
My boredom, too, is my feeling, is me, my boredom, too, is for my own good. Instead of "my boredom" I can insert every feeling, like "my discomfort", "my shame" "my powerlessness" "my failure" etc. etc. - all the feelings and all the jugdments and the judging of my judging |
"Gam zu le-tovah" "This too is for my own good", said Nahum, the Man of Gimzo, 1900 years ago. Gimzo is a village between Modi'in, where my daughter's family lives, and Shoham, where my son's family lives. I took this famous, rarely applied saying as the basis of a singsong, a ditty for learning to accept each and every feeling. |
2010-2011
LEARN the SECRET to SEE CLEARLY
July 14, 2011 I had asked for new glasses, - NOT multifocal, as I had the last 24 years. I received these values: [I've to learn their meaning: Wikipedia>Eyeglass-prescription ] Opticana, Shoham, July 11, 2011, 1268 NIS R- 3.00 - 1.00 x 90 ~~~~~~~~6/6 L - 2.75 - 3.25 x 70 ~~~~~~~~6/6 PD [Pupillary distance] 65 Since I also wanted the optometrist's signature for the renewal of my driver-license, I had to let my eyes be checked once more with the new glasses. Now I re-read a "success-story", quoted from "Better Vision Program" further down. "Before I started The Program I wore my glasses 14-15 hours every single day. I passed my driver's test without them only five weeks after starting The Program. Now, I never need glasses at all. I feel much more confident and free. .." This story and the way, that checkup for the driver-license was done, let's me think, that I could have tried, if my naked eyes could see, what's needed for the license. Since at this age, I have to renew the license every 2 years, my intention is, that in 2013 I won't need glasses for driving (in case I'll need to drive at all). May 7, 2014: Now the license has to be renewed only every 5 years. But I haven't been driving ever since I renewed my licence in July 2011, and I wonder if I'll ever need to drive again. As to that "success-story" - in my case the improvement vanished, I even assume , that not wearing glasses - except when watching TV- caused me to strain my eyes and that they are weaker than before. Still, what I do believe in , even today, is, that the vascillating between my old multifocal and my newer simple glasses is healthy for my eyes |

Myth 1: "Vision Problems Are Genetic"
|
How the Eye Works Let's look at this second conclusion more closely.
Improving Vision
Means Increasing Flexibility
|
…Let's go back to the camera analogy again.
You've focused the lens and you've taken the picture,
but you still don't really have a photograph until the film gets developed.
This is done in the darkroom.
The same thing is true in your eyes.
Vision, or the formation of images of the physical world,
does not occur until the brain receives impulses sent to it by the
eyes.
The darkroom of your visual system is a portion of the brain
known as the visual cortex or the
occipital lobes [see an animation
there], which is located
in the back of your head.
As everyone knows, the camera could take a perfect picture, but as a result
of some error in processing,
the photograph could appear unclear, too dark or too light. ……
To this day, vision researchers still do not completely
understand how the brain produces these visual images.
The most striking omission of the eye/camera analogy is the complex role of
the brain in the visual process.
In the case of the camera, it is the photographer who controls the camera
- deciding
what to shoot at, how much light to let in, what to focus on, for how long
and from what angle.
In the case of the eye, each of us is our own photographer
– and the choices we make about what we see
and how we see
are governed by the mysterious interplay
between our physiological processes
and our conscious and unconscious mental and emotional decisions.
Eyes Are an Integral Part of Your Total Being
The eyes do not exist in isolation.
They are an integral part of your total being affected by – and affecting
– the body, mind and emotions.
It's no wonder that the eyes are called the windows to the soul.
Three Factors Influencing Your Eyesight Eyesight Influence 1: Your vision is also influenced by three factors
– one of which is secondary physical tension.
Eyesight Influence 2: Eyesight Influence 3: |
2009_12_18 When I was 13 or 14, about a month before Christmas, I began to work on creating a model of the Christmas scene, because I thought, my mother expected a big present from me. And I am still entangled in this terror, that others might expect something from me. Isn't it my only real fear? Since it's Christmas time, and I'm - by chance on Dec. 17, 2009, - re-reading this, and I am definitely afraid of these two and half days at Shoham with Immanuel and Tomer and Mika's birthday celebration – I'm happy, that YOU brought this to my attention. And whenever I become aware of my fear or "tension", I'll give my eyes more than usual attention.. "When expectations from others cause tension I'm giving my own eyes more loving attention." .. |

The Transitional Period Holds the Key
To understand the inner causes of unclear vision
it is necessary to look at what I call the Transitional Period
– that period of time – usually a year but it could have been
longer
– between seeing clearly with natural eyes to first noticing a problem.
This physical change in vision
often follows changes in our own emotional and psychological responses to
ourselves
– or to the world around us – that became ingrained during this
Transitional Period:
Most people can identify a transition in at least one of
these three major areas during the Transitional Period.
Personal – changes in self image usually (but not always)
accompanied by physical changes during adolescence, reaching puberty
or with middle age.
Emotional – changes in significant relationships. (parents divorce,
another child is born or a loved one dies)
Situational – changes in the environment.
(moving to another town and having to make new friends
or staying in the same town but switching careers, homes or schools)
Whatever the specific outer changes may have been,
what is important are the significant inner changes of feelings, attitudes
or perspective
and the establishing of limiting emotional patterns.
The emotional and subconscious statement
“I don't want to see this part of myself or this problem”
is what affects the visual system.
Exactly how is not clear,
but I've seen it happen over and over again
in the more than 200 vision improvement seminars that I've conducted.
During this Transitional Period a person usually doesn't want to admit
to what is being seen, sensed or perhaps even feared.
The message “I don't want to see what is going on”
See the
song: "Here I am closing my eyes again Trying so hard not to see"
is sent to the subconscious mind.
Often delivered with emotion,
this message becomes a command to the mind
to develop a more limited pattern of seeing
and the visual system responds accordingly.
Not wanting to be seen
or hiding and protecting oneself from others out of fear or shame
can also contribute to the closing and limiting of the visual system.
A Fear of Seeing (an example, but since this is definitely
not my problem I'm not quoting it).
Eyesight
Influence 3: Part II: Healing Emotions. Healing Vision. Now if you can go further back in time than the Transitional Period, that is the time of clear seeing. I believe that the ability to see clearly is still inside all of us, that our subconscious brain remembers how to see clearly. One technique is a visualization of clear vision. A person doing this visualization is asked to imagine themselves in an outdoor setting seeing everything clearly. At one point in the visualization, the person is asked to close their eyes in their imagination and feel them relaxing. Then they are asked to re-open their eyes again – only in their imagination – and continue with the visualization. |
Are You Willing to See?
Developing the emotional willingness to see has a definite impact on vision.
[2010_11_28:
"See how I reached a decision to dedicate this- and hopefully the
following days-
to training my eyes with the help of "Better vision" as well as
with the help of "Paula",
and how I understood, that only if I see myself as part of evolution in fulfilling
the prophecy,
that the blind will see,
and the deaf will hear, and the lame will leap, and the mute will jubilee,
may I have the discipline to really stick with the training.
which I've been procrastinating for more than a year...
[but yes, I manage to take my glasses off most of the day,
except when watching TV or when needing to navigate in an unknown area.
As to the computer, I moved it a bit closer to my body, both in Arad and in
Shoham]
Unresolved emotional issues, particularly those involving loss, fear and misunderstanding
coupled with the attendant forgetting
of one's deeper positive qualities
– such as acceptance, compassion and forgiveness
– are also key elements of the transitional year.
Inner Vision – Outer Sight
there is a link between memory, vision and imagination.
When you start to improve your vision, so can your memory of significant
events become clearer.
[and probably vice versa! Nov.
28, 2010]
Key
#1: Blink Regularly. Blinking is a natural preserver of your better vision. Blinking cleanses and lubricates the eyes. When there is no tension, your eyes blink 10-12 times every minute, or about once every 5 seconds. But people who do not see clearly tend to stare and unconsciously hold their eyes open, which causes strain as well as the feeling of dry and tired eyes. The eyelid is the only part of the body that is controlled by just one muscle. Any other movement usually involves 2 muscles – one that contracts and one that stretches to make the movement. Your eyelid is controlled by only one muscle. By having proper relaxation in that muscle, it can promote relaxation throughout the entire body. A blinking exercise that you can practice frequently throughout the day is called Flutter Blinking. - blink your eyes lightly and rapidly 10 to 20 times. Do not strain or squeeze your eyes shut and relax your face as you blink. Then close your eyes and relax. Repeat this 2 or 3 times. Flutter Blinking will help to keep your eyes moist, relaxed and free of strain. [See also: "Breathe and use eye-movements!" |
Key #2:
|
Key #3: |
Key #4:
|
Key
#5: Look With the ‘Eyes of a Child.' If you are remembering to blink, to move your eyes and shift focus, to use your peripheral vision and to avoid daydreaming, you can get stuck in the trap of just mechanically using your eyes. There's a big difference between seeing and actively looking. There's always something new and different to notice. Engage your world as a child would – with excitement, freshness, awe and wonder – as if you are seeing everything for the first time. |
Key
#6: Nourish (by sunlight and "Vita-Lite") and Rest (palm)Your Eyes. [this seems to be the same as Paula's "Your Palms on your Eyes", but the latter's purpose is - to make Body move in the way it wants to move, in order to heal all of itself, not only its eyes.] Your eyes are nourished by light, just as your body is nourished by food. And the best nourishment for your eyes in sunlight. To get this important nourishment spend at least 15 minutes a day outdoors – without glasses or contacts – so that your visual system can receive unfiltered sunlight…, The kind of indoor lighting that you use is also important. Dr. John Ott, a pioneer in the field of photobiology, which is the study of how different kinds of light affect living organisms, developed an indoor light that is the most complete substitute for sunlight. It is called Vita-Lite and it easily replaces any standard fluorescent tube. Studies have shown that using Vita-Lite increases see-ability, reduces glare and eyestrain and improves visual acuity. Your eyes are rested by total darkness. The best way to rest your eyes is to close them and place your cupped palms over your closed eyes. You can palm like this for as little as 30 or 40 seconds any time that your eyes feel tired or strained. When palming, visualize a pleasant scene in your imagination – you'll be surprised at how refreshed you feel when you are done. By the way, if you see sparks of light or color when your palms are covering you eyes, that indicates visual stress. Seeing blackness, on the other hand, indicates visual relaxation. Nourishing and resting your eyes can be done at the same time in a short exercise that I call the Sun Cycle. It's done like this: Close your eyes and face the sun (never look at the sun with your eyes open!). Let the sunlight fall on your closed eyes for 5 to 10 seconds. Then palm over your closed eyes and shut out all the light for another 5 or 10 seconds. Repeat these two steps at least 10 times, for a total of 3 or 4 minutes. The Sun Cycle helps to nourish your visual system, exercises the focusing muscles of your eyes and reduces sensitivity to glare. |
Key
#7: Use An Under-corrected Prescription If you are also doing eye exercises, then as your vision improves, what was once an under-corrected prescription will eventually become too strong as your own vision gets clearer. At this point it's time to get another under-corrected prescription. In this way you are slowly weaning yourself from corrective lenses and your eyesight gets stronger as your glasses get weaker. Not every eye doctor agrees with this philosophy of under-correction, so it may take some looking on your part to find one that understands and supports this approach. |
Key
#8: Increase Body Relaxation and Good Posture It's very difficult, if not impossible, to relax your eyes and mind and maintain clear vision if your body is overly tense. In addition, people with vision problems shouldn't read or watch TV while lying down. Instead, they should sit in a relaxed, comfortable position. This makes it easier for the blood and the oxygen to circulate to the head and the eyes. |
Key
#9: Breathe Deeply and Regularly. Approximately 30% [below it's claimed: 25%] of the oxygen you inhale goes to nourish the muscles, nerves and brain cells of your visual system. Breathing deeply and rhythmically helps vision. And it will keep your body more relaxed, help you concentrate easier for longer periods of time and eliminate eyestrain and fatigue. |
Key
#10: Look Openly and Honestly. Past and present emotional stress can affect vision, so it is important to develop the inner willingness to see. Develop an inner willingness to look directly at challenging and difficult situations and do whatever you can to release the emotional stress that affects vision. |
This is the end of the e-mail
course and I'm referred to The essential truth about eyesight is this:
|
What I begin to understand (January
21, 2010), is the combination of two elements,
one is a pattern and the other is a quality
which cause tension in my eyes and, of course, tension in my feelings:
1) the fear of expectations from others,
be they projected on them by me, or be they real
2) the wild, vehement fountain of ideas
which cause me to plan super-human projects
- and not only with concern to my life-projects
(which are also the result of these two elements:
the expectation embedded in my "vocation"
and the flood of my "visions"...)
but even with concern to a "grandma-day" with 5 kids , for instance
What
results can I expect? Within the initial 8-week period, many people see a 10% to 50% improvement. In your next consultation with your optometrist, your prescription may become weaker and you'll be using your glasses less; you may even be able to stop using them altogether! You will see more clearly, with less effort, and you will also experience better memory, sharper concentration, more vivid imagination and a more positive self-image. And, as you continue, the greater the changes can be. There are three real causes of poor vision: First, the visual habit patterns that a person has developed - how the visual centers of the brain work with the eyes; second, tension in the eyes and body, and third, mental and emotional stress and strain and patterns of not seeing. To get better vision you want to re-train the way
that the brain uses the eyes Sometimes, when a person’s vision improves,
the shape of the eye changes. Sometimes it is because the lens becomes
more flexible The main thing to understand is
now I have flashes
of perfectly clear vision at times! All the exercises have
been helpful, particularly the affirmations,
"I
now know the muscles of my eyes as well as the fingers of my hand.
I am 85 years old and can focus very well and read for a long time
without fatigue. "I like how my
eyes feel softer and more relaxed.
Grateful for deep healing of painful
memories: "The
Vision Sessions made me feel surprisingly relaxed.
"I was amazed to discover
that my brain can command my eyes to focus.
"The
relaxation and visualization techniques [of
The Program] enhance the physical flexibility
exercises and lead to re-learning how to use the eyes the way that
they were meant to be used

From an e-mail in Febr. 2010 There are six muscles that surround and move your
eyes. Tension in these muscles As this retraining occurs, the eye muscles become
more flexible, Want to experience some of the tension that's in
your eye muscles -
From an e-mail on May 22, 2010

July
2010 (after I received what I bought, the e-mails continue to arrive)
Want to experience some of the tension that's in
your eye muscles - 1. Close your eyes, relax your eyelids, forehead
and face. 2. Imagine you're facing a clock, with your nose
at its center. 3. Starting at the number 12, rotate your eyes clockwise
in a circular motion, around the clock. 4. Repeat for 10-20 clockwise circles. 5. Change direction and make 10-20 circles in a counter-clockwise direction. Most people carry at least some tension and rigidity
in these muscles. Where in the movements did your muscles tense up?
With practice, this is one of 24 different exercises, techniques
and processes The Program for Better Vision:
|
THE FOUR STEPS TO GETTING
STARTED When your Program for Better Vision arrives,
1. READ the instructions for the 6 Vision Sessions. (Pp. 29-57) 2. DECIDE what glasses/contacts to use and
how to use them 3. SET UP your practice area (Pp. 27-28) and CHOOSE a practice time. 4. START and COMPLETE THE FIRST STAGE 8-week
schedule. If you have any questions, call the Cambridge
Institute's Care for your eyes, August 20, 2010, For over two decades, researcher Ellen Langer of
Harvard University ...If you think you can see, you will see better.
One of the cornerstones of my natural approach to
eye care is In this triangle, there are three essential factors
that contribute to how we see - Eye exercises help to change the way The mind - our belief system, our expectations,
our ability to visualize -

One of the regular group-e-mails from "Better Vision", on Dec. 25, 2010, contained this message:
"The Eyes Are The Windows To The Soul"
I'm sure you've heard this saying before, but have you ever stopped to really think about what it implies?
Your eyes are much more than little cameras taking pictures of the outside world.
Your vision encompasses much more than what letter you read on the eye chart.
Your eyes are connected to YOU - on the most deep and profound levels.
It's through your eyes that the essential parts of yourself are often expressed.
And it's through your eyes that you can see the essence of another, or relish the beauty in the world.
It turns out that changing your eyesight is only the beginning.
When your eyes get clearer, YOU get clearer too.
When your eyes get healthier, YOU get healthier too.
When your eyes feel more relaxed, YOU feel more relaxed.
When you eyes become less stiff, YOU loosen up, too - physically, emotionally and mentally.
When your eyes feel more open, YOU feel more open too.
And, that's just the beginning of the connections and relationships between how you see and who you are.
Obviously, your eyes are open every moment that you're awake.
The opportunity to tune into "Your Soul" through your eyes is also available to you every moment of the day.
Watch what happens as you more and more keep your consciousness in your eyes and in your vision.
Watch what happens as you become more sensitive to how you are seeing in each moment.
Watch for your own Eyesight Miracles!
E-mail on February 11: The clock-exercise
1. Close your eyes, relax your eyelids, forehead and face.
Keep your neck and head still. Breathe easily and regularly.
2. Imagine you're facing a clock, with your nose at its center.
As you stretch your eyes all the way up,
you can just barely see the number 12 at the top of this imaginary clock.
(Remember, your eyes are closed.)
3. Starting at the number 12, rotate your eyes clockwise in a circular motion,
around the clock.
Stretch your eyes as you rotate them, but don't strain or force the movements.
4. Repeat for 10-20 clockwise circles.
5. Change direction and make 10-20 circles in a counter-clockwise direction.
Most people carry at least some tension and rigidity
in these muscles. Here's how you can tell:
Your eyes unconsciously jump out of your control.
Sections of the rotation where the movements feel stiffer, more tense or stuck.
Holding your breath is a sign of tension. Remember to breathe!
Where in the movements did your muscles tense up?
When did they jump out of control?
What parts of the movements were not smooth?
With practice, you'll be able to make all parts of the circular movement smooth
and easy.
Eye Stretches is an ancient yoga exercise, so you may have heard of it already.
By itself, it won't give you perfect vision, but it definitely has its place
in a total system of vision improvement

E-Mail from "Better Vision" on April 29, 2011
May 20, 2011,
I'll copy here, what I found worthwhile to excerpt
by hand from the info that came with the CD.
Skill one: Peripheral awareness and Central/Peripheral Balance
Skill two : Convergence or Binocularity
Skill three: Accomodation or Focusing
In addition: the (ring)muscles must be relaxed, toned and flexible.
Inner Vision: The mind's eye:
imagination, visualizatin, memory, dreams and attitudes {no judgments, I ,
Rachel, add)
Better Vision also means: having a positive
image of yourself,
a clear sense of purpose
and emotinal clarity.
The (ring/) muscles converge, turn the eyes in when
looking close,
diverge, turn the eyes out when looking far.
They are 150-200 times strongr than they need to be.
In the camera the lens moves in and out to bring objects at different distances
into focus.
The eye's lense changes is a shape [?] to bring objects into focus.
When focusing on a near object, the lens becomes fatter, bulding from front
to back.
WE ARE ALWAYS CHANGING
WHAT WE ARE LOOKING AT,
so the lens is continually making fine adjustments in its shape -
more than 1 0 0 0 0 0 times every day.
(Read again about "Accomodation" on p.
9-10)
Your BODY and your EYES
11 Nearsighted people:
tension in their upper back, shoulders, base
of neck and around the eyes.
Correct posture for blood-flow:
One third of the blood going to the head, nourishes the eyes.
Watch TV and read while sitting upright.
14 Vision of the formation of images of the physical world
does not occur until the brain receives impulses sent to it by the eyes
(not understood by scientists.
15 Each person has a unique inner focus
the result of the interplay
of memory, past experiences, attitudes and expectations.
16 Notice and a c c e p t what you are seeing.
It may not be what you think yu should be seeing,
but relax, breathe easily and blink as you look.
Notice, what you can see and how you feel.
The more you look, the more you see,
the more you see, the more you look.
If your eyes are open, you are always seeing something.
If you focus on what you can see,
you will want to look more often and more fully
which will in turn lead to seeing more.
Relax and a c c e p t wht you can see,
as you look around.
And always acknowledge yourself for what you're seeing.
17 Visualizations... if the mind imagines looking at a distant mountain, the
eye changes its focus as if...
18 Prolonged day dreaming while your eyes see something else,
creates visual and mental strain.
If you catch yourself daydreaming, bored or preoccupied,
stop, take a breath and refocus on what you are seeing.
Become more present, more aware and more involved.
Or, if you want to continue daydreaming, close your eyes.
The difference between seeing and looking is involvement,
an essential ingredient of visual clarity.
22 When you decide to improve your vision.
you also improve your memory.
unresolved emotional issues, - involving loss, fear,
coupled with the attendant forgetting of one's deeper positive qualities
-such as acceptance, compassion and forgiveness-
are also elements of the Transitional Period.
23 Once you start exploring the connection between your emotions, your memories
and your vision,'
you will be surprised at what - and how much - you see.
26 Instead of straining or squinting-
attitude of visual acceptance.
Notice, what you can see and what you are seeing,
without comparing it to what you think you should see.
35 Visualization.
The depth of your feeling as important as imagination of scene
36 Eight Selfmassage-Techniques:
1) Swinging: Body moves like a flag with the spine as the flagpole, eyes move
- a line of sight parallel to the floor- let the world go by. B l in k.
Swinging relaxes the eyes and body, helps redevelop the natural movement of
eyes.
2) Head Rolls: how larage the rolls are is not important as doing them slowly,
relaxed.
3) Finger Tapping stimulates the nerve endings in fingertips and the visual
pathways in the brain.
Loosely place bottom of palms together.
Breathe easily and keep arms, elbows, writsts relaxed.
4) Five-Finger-Massage: to stimulate the muscles of focusing and lenses of
eyes.
Place tips together - as if cupping a marble. and place them on closed eyes.
Light contact with eyes by vibrating tips quickly from side to side,
then fling away your eyes may feel softer as you continue massaging aon a
regular basis.
5) Three -Finger-Massage: (same purpose like (4).
Place tips of middle fingers on the bony outer corners of your eyesocket.
Inhale: pressure outward, relax pressure, exhale for a count of five, fling
fingers away- tension out of body.
6) Energy Transfer Point Massage: to increase oxygen supply to visual system.
7) Occipital Point Massage: stimulates acupressure points for vision and relaxes
! with thungs! eyes open!
8) Palming.
Eye-Stretches: Clock - with closed eyes.
Holding head in different positions
Edging (with an imagined pencil in front of 1-3 the eyes from the tip of the
nose to the char),
around the outline of a symbol or letter (moving head and neck!)
let your eyes follow (not lead) the movement of the pencil.
4 Ede, moving only eyes.
Edge in both directions, chaning direction often
5 Edge with closed eyes in both directions.
Eye-Squeezes
all muscles, face, jaw, nec, hear.
Let go quickly and open your eyes wide.
You can palm for 2-3 minutes
Shifting:
Near to far
Corner to Corner-Moving Head, nose, Eyes
Moving only Eyes
Clock- Holding Head in different directions

2011_05_22 - the Meir Schneider Method (updated
on July 4, 2011)
Two
days before her 18th birthday my granddaughter Rotem
sent me a link! and on July 3, 2011 my daughter-in-love called me in the middle of a TV doc! This info about a man, now 56, who h e a l e d his 99% blindness since birth, points to a series of videos - Yoga for your Eyes, and Yoga for your Eyes 1/8 where this man, Meir Schneider, demonstrates his techniques with a pupil (this in itself is astounding: the above Better Vision Program does not offer such an option!) What I learnt immediately - in addition to what I know from "Paula" and from "Better Vision" - is: No limit to "sunning" (which I like very much, but "Better Vision" advices a break every few seconds). Envisioning darkness, even blackness; Rubbing Hands, even by interlacing them. |

2008_10_23, and how to avoid or treat it
2011_06_26
[Uri, my son-in-love,
is 48 today!] I'm becoming better in realizing my minimalistic plan of opening this page first thing on the computer in the morning and re-reading, re-learning from what I quoted on this page. Today I came across an exercise, that is not mentioned anywhere else in "Better Vision" |
Flutter
Blinking. |
2011_06_27 Again I came across an aspect of what "Better Vision", of which I haven't thought awarely, but which makes so much sense in the context of what I'm enjoying more and more: "to be aware of everything at the same time". This for me means first of all: to be aware of everything I see with my physical eyes at the same time, like yesterday, when I spent an hour with Amit Cohen, my landlords' son (7), "in the Wadi", as he wished, the Wadi of Compassion, i.e. in the Desert. While I myself tended to look into the far distance, enjoying the perspective of hills~valleys, which changes with each step, Amit, on the ground, hunted for ants, beatles and most of all grasshoppers, which - with their jumping 1-3 meters, whenever he wanted to catch them- - made me aware of the constant movement around our legs and steps. But "to be aware of everything at the same time" means more and more literally 'at the same time'! I saw a doc, a "Zeitreise", a "time-travel" into Peru, the country on this planet to which I'm most drawn. To view the town and pyramids of Caral, 4600 years ago, to be stung by the atrocities of the Christian conquerors, to watch today's people cut 'grass' and turn it into a boat, and to really grasp, that all this is mine and all this is Me! |

"the idea is that you give freedom to the week eye to work", see the exact spot, where Meir is saying this in the 6th part of his video" "since your strong eye, Tony, is the left eye, wave in front of the strong eye" |
"you're starting to focus on what you CAN see with your weaker eye. When the weaker eye is not working, the stronger eye works every hard to suppress whatever the weaker eye is seeing, which weakens the strong eye and weakens the weak eye. When the weak eye works, then the strong eye will become stronger and also the weaker eye will become stronger." |
|
I remember to have
learnt just the opposite from a book called in Hebrew: Teresa Bertrand (or Berterand? I can't find any info in English or French) "the body has its reasons." I studied it into depth, probably in 1981, when I learnt and worked with Mirjam Goldberg. One sentence from the book I remember almost by heart: "If your left shoulder hurts, train your right shoulder and the left one will feel "ashamed" and follow suit. Meir: "4 times a day, patch your stronger eye for 5 minutes, so as to activate your weaker eye!" "Visualize that the colors are in more contrast, the bright part of the hill is brighter, the dark part is darker, the sky is bluer/ that visualization becomes a direct order from your brain to your eyes. |
I have the chance "I have the chance", means |
The
question, which troubles me, is: Can this be a metaphor for weak and strong people? Who is right in this case: Meir or Teresa? I must think about this more deeply. |

Your Eyesight Is Precious
Your body knows it:
** 90% of what we learn about the world comes to us through our eyes.
** 1/4 of all the nutrition we take in goes to feed our visual system.
** 1/3 of the oxygen we take in goes to our visual system.
** The eyes have a higher concentration of vitamin C, zinc and lutein than almost any other part of the body.
The Miracle of Sight
You know it:
** For centuries, the eyes have been called the windows to the soul.
** When you want to connect to another person, you look in their eyes (not their ears or nose!).
** On the darker side, polls reveal that more people fear blindness than getting cancer.
** The eye is capable of seeing the light of a candle 16 miles away, under
ideal conditions.
The Joy of Seeing
What can be more moving and inspiring than, for example:
** Seeing a beautiful sunset or rainbow in the sky.
** Seeing the loving eyes of a child, spouse, friend.
** Looking out at the world with wonder and awe for what you see.
** Letting yourself be looked at with eyes of love, acceptance, admiration or respect.
The Holidays that are celebrated around this time of year are about light, whatever their particular tradition.
Without light, there is no sight.
I wish you the clearest, sharpest and healthiest vision that you can possibly have, on every level!
All the best in sight,
2012-02-16 About eye-saving nutrients [I would not have payed attention to this e-mail from the Institue for Better Vision, it I hadn't - by an error - heard an Israeli doctor talk about food yesterday, a talk that inspired me to think about exterior help for my groin, which again reached a state that prevents me from walking.] Food Just Isn't What It Used To Be I'm the first person to recommend that you eat eye healthy foods. Unfortunately, most people don't. But even if you do, Consider these facts - and then take the "Eat Like A Horse" quiz that follows. Dark leafy vegetables (richest in eye-saving nutrients)
Less than 50% of the United States population Nine out of 10 people in the U.S. Nearly one out of every two people in the U.S. The average American consumes roughly 2 mg. of lutein a day from food sources, even though a minimum of 6 mg. is recommended and 10 mg. is preferred. 85% of grain products eaten - wheat, rice, corn,
etc. - are processed, "Wait a minute!" you might be screaming,
Well, it turns out that even if you are eating your
fruits and vegetables, Refrigerated spinach loses half its vitamin C in
two days. Broccoli and asparagus lose 35-50% of vitamin C in
cold storage Cooking destroys 30% of vitamin C, up to 70% of thiamin
(vitamin B1) Over the last 50 years, the carrot has lost 75% of
its magnesium content, Canning destroys up to 77% of vitamins B5 and B6, canned fruit juice loses up to 50% of vitamin B5. Canning tomatoes removes 80% of zinc. Canned spinach suffers losses of up to 81% of manganese,
70% of cobalt, Freezing meat destroys up to 7% of vitamin B5. Modern farming methods have depleted the soil of
trace minerals vital to our health, such as selenium, manganese and
vanadium. The Bottom Line? Most people don't eat eye-saving foods. Yet, even if you do, Either way, your eyes are not getting what they need. They're not getting the AMOUNTS of vitamins and minerals
Take This "Eat Like A Horse" Quiz See how much you'd have to eat - every day - to keep your eye health. 1. How many bowls of fresh spinach would you need
to eat every day 2. How many oranges would you need to eat each and
every day 3. How many daily cups of sunflower seeds are required 4. ... women who took a combination of folic acid
and vitamins B6 and B12 5. How many cups of chopped peanuts does it take
