Red-Sea-Partner-SHIP
1997-98
Its relevance for the future
BAT-ADAM, the tragic PETITIONER
2003_06_21, summer solstice
1997_10_27 To the Minister for Infrastructure
Mr. Ariel Sharon
about the proposal
"ma'avar Ya'aqov/ma'abar /Ya'aqoub"
"the Passage of Jacob"
between
the fortifications
of the two border
lookouts.
The gist of the letter is the same as the
gist of the English letter to King Hussein further down on this
page.

As to the cultural background,
see the biblical sculpture on this site: "Yacob
wrestling with himself"]
The word "Aqaba" , the root also of the name Ya'aqov
in Hebrew and Ya'aqoub in Arabic, means something, that blocks
us from going forward.
At the end of the letter to King Hussein I quote the Arabic
proverb, which we said to each other day and night, Aziz,
Ahmed and I:
"The 'aqabaat
are from the people,
but God's is
the 'aaqiba -
" the result" of the things.
Sept.17, 2009:
Just
now I came across
a biblical prophecy
which includes the word
"hae-aqov"
"Every valley shall
be lifted up,
and every mountain and hill
shall be made low;
and the rugged (hae-'aqov)
shall be made level,
and the rough places a plain;"
Isaiah 40:4
"Alles
Tal soll sich heben,
aller Berg und Huegel sich niedern,
das Hoeckrige (hae-'aqov)
werde zur Ebne
und die Grate zum Gesenk!"

In order to move into the direction of the place,
where our proposal should have been realized,
I took my bus and brought it to the beach closest to the border.
It was the week of Succot, and many visitors came to the beach.
In the two weeks that followed the festival, someone brought his
little katamaran.
This was like a message for us, that maybe we should return to
our original idea:
The RedSeaPartner- S H I P
.
But not yet.
1997_10_29 To King Hussein, King of Jordan
about "the Passage of Ya'aqov/Ya'aqoub"
between the fortifications of the two border look-outs.

The quote in Arabic is from the
11th Sura called Jonah, the Biblical prophet, who boarded a
ship, because he wanted to escape God and his vocation. verse
22:
"He it is Who maketh you to go on
the land and the sea..."
Magali was Sharon's Druse adviser;
Dov Sherf was employed by the municipality of Eilat
to take care of communication between Eilat and Aqaba.

The three dwellings are:
*a "bet-Sha'ar", house-of-hair,
i.e. a genuine Bedouin tent,
*my mobile "arisha", i.e. "succah"
*and the
4Nation Tent,
which we hadn't even invented yet.
