When we reached this splendid little fortress
I was reminded of the metaphor in the Hebrew version of my Partnership Hymn

A common purpose - how great a challenge, in mutual trust - security like a fortress !

 

 

We return to the Road along the Dead Sea and drive north, north, north
until we reach the trail, which should lead us to "my" peninsula and spring.
People had already told me, that the trail was now blocked completely.
Yahia managed to navigate around the first blockage, but then there was another one
and we had to leave the pickup there and walk.
"We could also park the car above my Cave,
but since I haven't maintained the steep path I carved out in 2003-4,
I don't dare to take you down from there", I said

 

We reached the peninsula and we climbed up to the Cave.
The path, which I documented in 2004, is still in good shape
and so is the Cave - with only little garbage in it and around.
Cornelia lay down on the second floor, taking her sandals off.
Can I believe myself, that I slept there for a period of 150 days,
"by chance" - the 150 days during which Noah's flood lasted?

 

I got triggered by the child:
"Even now you have to play with your mobile phone?"
But this time I was mistaken! He was taking pictures.
During the first 2 days I was often triggered by Ben-Chorin,
Sometimes I couldn't withhold my anger
and was surprised, that Cornelia did not defend her son, as any mother would.
I expressed my admiration for that and she said:
"He is there to both trigger and challenge you!"

 

Yahia sat on the rock in front of the Cave and enjoyed his cigarette

 

 

 

When we decided to go down to the peninsula,
in order to have a fire and finally eat and drink,
Yahia and Ben-Chorin leaped down like gazelles,
and had the fire ready , when we women arrived.

When we drove back and up to Arad,
we felt fulfilled and harmonious.
The experience with Yahia had been such,
that the pains, which I had attracted from him in the past, were soothed,
and the judgments, which I still harbored against him, had vanished.
We even raised the taxi fee from 250 to 400 NIS and he accepted it.
We decided,
that Cornelia and Ben-Chorin would stay with Yahia's family for another night,
and that the next day we would again employ Yahia as taxi-driver,
but I made it a condition, that either Samira or Hathra would come with us.
