10:54 I desire to enjoy 7 hours of al-one-ness
with healing-creating-resting & with feeling vicariously.
I desire that Tomer will internalize the higher view of our
family-drama, which I shared again.
I desire that he will be accepted at Ben-Shemen
and that he'll come home only once in 2 weeks,
so as to give E. a chance to learn to believe in her capacity
of becoming a whole, loving mother
I desire that Tomer will take responsibility for attracting
& creating the circumstances of life,
which will cause him to feel excitement and full-fill-ment.

love on the "Titanic"
hodayot [thanksgivings] for
today
My Body,
my Partner,
my God
I give thanks to your ability to generate and get rid of heat,
keeping our temperature within a narrow, safe range
in spite of large variations in temperatures outside the body.
I give thanks that we don't have to cope with icy water or
deadly heat!
I am grate-full for the walk with Tomer after
sunset and rain:
I: "All these music bands want
to open people's eyes. But to what?"
T: "Perhaps someone should open
people's eyes to the good things?"
I: "That's exactly what I try to
do now." T: "But
it's not exciting enough!" "That's why we have to discover
the excitement in good things."
And after I explained why I'm so worried about his being bored,
T. said: "Can you make me
a Crass-style
song about why people volunteer for war?" "I'll try, but let's check
their songs if there is rhyme & rhythm."
We did this.
I'm grate-full that I could explain T's behavior to my son
according to my own: "Because he is afraid to ask, he
imposes his quest & throws into the air:
'savta and I shall see "Titanic"
tonight!', instead of coming
to Efrat nicely:
"would it be possible that you
yield the TV set with the DVD at 10 PM?
It's so rare that I have a chance to watch such a movie with
grandma!"
I'm grate-full that in the end we could
see "Titanic" together, - I. left for NY
and E. went to sleep -and that we opened our eyes to the "good
things" in it:
the victory of a couple's love in the face of hell...
It's been 84 years, and I can still smell
the fresh paint. The china had never been used. The sheets had
never been slept in. Titanic was called the Ship of Dreams,
and it was. It really was.
Music to drown by... now I know I'm in
first class.
So this is the ship they say is unsinkable.
It is unsinkable. God himself couldn't sink this ship.
Everyone knows that the Titanic struck an iceberg in the early
morning hours of April 15, 1912. It sank to the bottom of the
North Atlantic, killing 1500 of the 2200 passengers on board.
The tragedy of the Titanic has fascinated every generation in
the past eighty-six years, with several films and documentaries
on the disaster, including 1929's "Atlantic", the
1940 German propaganda film "Titanic", the first Hollywood
production "Titanic" in 1953, "A Night to Remember"
from 1958, the made-for-TV "S.O.S Titanic" from 1979,
and the forgettable "Raise the Titanic!" from 1980.
1997 had French audiences exposed to yet another film about
the Titanic ("The Chambermaid and the Titanic"), and
Broadway abuzz about the Tony Award-winning "Titanic: The
Musical" (I know, it sounds like something you would expect
to see on "The Simpsons"). Now James Cameron brings
the fatal voyage of the 'unsinkable ship' to a new generation,
a grand epic that is meticulous in detail,
yet breathtaking in scope.
The pumps will buy you time... but minutes
only.
From this moment, no matter what we do, Titanic will founder.
But this ship can't sink!
She is made of iron, sir. I assure you, she can. And she will.
It is a mathematical certainty.
The story of James Cameron's "Titanic" begins in the
present day, with an investigation of the wreck by a salvage
team lead by Brock Lovett... in search of the "Heart of
the Ocean", a 56 carat diamond that reputedly went down
with the Titanic, and is worth more than the Hope Diamond if
found. The search through the watery mausoleum (utilizing
actual documentary footage that Cameron shot in the wreck),
Lovett finds a sketch of a woman wearing the diamond the day
before the ship sank.
Three thousand miles away, the 101-year old Rose DeWitt Bukater
(played by Gloria Stuart, an actress from the early days of
'talkies') [Tomer
[who saw this movie 'millions of times' already when I was 5
years old and my sister saw it over and over again]:
"She looks exactly like you - "like
two water-drops", as the Hebrew idiom goes -
except that she is older, but in 10 years you might look just
like her!" ][sees the sketch on a television newscast
and recognizes the woman wearing the diamond-- it is her, at
the age of 17. Lovett flies Rose out to the salvage operation,
and begins the captivating tale of how she came to be in the
sketch.
I saw my life as if I had already lived
it. An endless parade of parties and polo matches. Always the
same narrow people, the same mindless chatter. I felt like I
was standing at a great precipice, with no one to pull me back,
no one who cared... or even noticed.
The story then jumps back to the 10th of April 1912, with the
boarding of the 'largest work of man in all of history'. The
young Rose (Kate Winslet of "Sense and Sensibility")
is to be married to the rich, cold and cruel snob of a fiancé
(are there any other kinds?), Cal Hockley , in order to save
her stern yet debt-ridden mother from the poorhouse. Also boarding
the ship is the happy-go-lucky American (are there any other
kinds?), Jack Dawson (Leonardo DiCaprio of "William Shakespeare's
Romeo and Juliet"), who wins his third-class ticket from
a poker game five minutes before the ship sets sail.
So Jack, how are the accommodations in
third class?
They're pretty good. Hardly any rats at all.
Jack first notices the beautiful Rose from afar, standing by
a railing on the first class deck. But soon he comes to know
her better when she attempts to jump overboard in a drastic
bid to escape the impending doom of a loveless marriage and
a life surrounded by the avarice and arrogance of high society.
Cal thanks Jack for saving the life of his fiancée by
inviting the scruffy young man to dinner in first-class. After
enduring a round of pointed remarks from his stuffy hosts, Jack
steals Rose away to the lower decks for a night of spirited
dancing and drinking. And so the brief but intense star-crossed
love affair begins, which must endure not only the snooping
of Cal and his loyal manservant , but the Titanic's inevitable
collision with destiny.
"Rose, you're the most amazing, wonderful
girl, woman that I've ever met."
"Jack, I'm engaged"
"Wait, just let me try and get this out. Rose you're wonderful...
I'm not an idiot. I know how the world works.
I have ten bucks in my pocket and nothing to offer you, and
I know that.
They've got you trapped, Rose,
and if you don't break free you're going to die.
Then that fire that I love so about you, that fire's going to
burn out. "
"It's not up to you to save me Jack."
"I know, only you can do that."
The story of the Titanic is rife of irony and juxtaposition,
and Cameron artfully peppers his script with these two aspects.
The ultimate irony of the story is that a young man's lucky
hand of poker brings him in contact with a young woman who feels
that she has nothing to live for, while on a doomed voyage.
Cameron fixates on these two characters, and it
is their story, not the sinking of the ship, that is at the
forefront of "Titanic"-- he has always put
the relationships of his characters in the foreground, such
as the Ripley-Newt relationship in "Aliens", or the
Bud-Lindsey reconciliation in "The Abyss". This
strong emotional anchor also overshadows the technology and
special effects of the film, and it is the rapturous relationship
that brings the audience into the opulence and mayhem of being
aboard the Titanic in its final hours. Cameron also uses juxtaposition
to great effect in this film, contrasting the past and the present,
life in the upper and lower decks, the stifling constraints
of Victorian propriety and the more liberal values of the Twentieth
century, and the triumph of the human spirit and the base instincts
of self-preservation that emerge in the face of adversity.
Don't you understand?
The water is freezing and there aren't enough boats... not enough
by half. Half of the people on this ship are going to die.
Not the better half.
The narrative is also of sufficient depth that it can be viewed
on many levels. The most obvious interpretation is as an allegory
to man's over-reliance on the marvels of technology (a theme
previously explored in the "Terminator" series). But
perhaps what is most enlightening is that this film speaks to
the need to grasp the moment, to find
fulfillment in a laconic life, metaphorically conveyed in the
dilemma that Rose faces: a lifetime of lonely self-deceit, or
a brief respite of happiness, no matter how fleeting?
You're going to die an old woman, warm
in your bed, not here, not tonight.
In addition to a strong script, the other characteristics of
the typical Cameron film are found here. The
writer/director has always been fascinated by strong female
characters, and Rose is the perfect embodiment of this.
When she first boards the vessel, she is a spirited young woman,
though resigned to endure the fate that awaits her. However,
as the film progresses, she becomes increasingly
resolved in following her own heart, and challenges the decisions
that have been made for her. The trademark fast-pacing
of his films is also apparent in "Titanic", keeping
you spellbound for the entire three-hour running time. Finally,
Cameron has once again pushed the envelope of special effects
to portray the experience of being on the Titanic as realistically
as possible. Using several scale models of the ship (including
a 900-ft model, which was 90% of the size of the actual Titanic)
and extensive CGI work, it is very difficult
to tell where reality ends and the special effects begin. Whether
it is the spectacular visualization of the Titanic's final death
throes or something as minor as the icy breath of the shivering
survivors, this film is a testament to how technology
can contribute to dramatic storytelling.
I don't know about you, but I intend to
write a strongly worded letter
to the White Star Line about all this.
"Titanic" is a very well-balanced film, with something
to offer everyone, from the hopeless romantic to the adrenaline
junkie: strong performances, romance, levity, special effects,
and pathos. The story of the ill-fated
love affair is not new, but in Cameron's capable hands, it has
been brilliantly executed, with a narrative and images that
will linger in your mind long after having seen the film. If
you only could see one film this year, this would be the one.
So you've not lit the last four boilers
then?
No, but we're making excellent time.
Captain, the press knows the size of Titanic,
let them marvel at her speed, too.
We must give them something new to print.
And the maiden voyage of Titanic must make headlines!

Jack Dawson and Rose DeWitt Bukater,
portrayed in the movie by Leonardo DiCaprio and Kate Winslet,
are almost entirely fictional characters
(James Cameron modeled the character of Rose after American
artist Beatrice Wood, who had no connection to Titanic
history).
The movie's love story is also fiction.
It was created by Titanic screenwriter and director James
Cameron.
In addition to Rose and Jack, a handful of other characters
associated with them are fictional as well. They include
Rose's fiancé Caledon 'Cal' Hockley, her mother
Ruth , Cal's valet Spicer Lovejoy , and the third class
passengers, who include Jack's friends Fabrizio and Tommy.
Some of the third class passengers were modeled after
real people.
Icecap "I'm not bored. I look, I think.
I'm only bored, when I wait for something.
Let's say, I'm told that my mother will be coming in 5 hours,
then I'm walking around like crazy with boredom."
"How come, you are so yearning for your mother,
but the minute you come to her home, you leave for your Tel-Aviv
"friends"?
Tomer smiled as if caught... "There are different reasons for
waiting for my mother.
First, I truly am glad to see her.
Second, I'm glad to get out of Bne Arazim,
Third, I want to see my friends.
But the point is, that you do not have to worry about me being
bored." "I'm worrying, because I see the
consequences of boredom in the world.
Why do you think, people run to join politicians who want to
make war?
They believe, they can do some brave deed and then feel worthy.
Or they believe, that they can escape dullness and drudgery,
'finally there will be action! Finally something will make me
feel satisfied!' "
"Can you make a song about this theme, in the style of
"Crass" or "Punk"?"
"The lyrics or the tune or both?" "The lyrics!
The tune I'll make myself!"
This was our talk yesterday.
This morning - after our big talk
about looking at the actors of his drama from above
and be compassionate towards all of us,
because all of us do stupid things out of fear of him,
as he does stupid things out of fear of us -
there were only a few minutes before his mother came to fetch
him.
He wanted me to see "a terrific animation"
: Icecap.
" - it's connected to the Maple Story, but it's a pretty
tune."
When we had finished looking at Icecap - he said,
almost with tears in his eyes: "This moves me every time anew".
And I feel moved by the fact,
that this simple story about the friendship between the boy
and a dog,
seems to touch him more than "Titanic",
leave alone the sado-masochistic movie he showed me on Sept.
25,
He got killed instantly. How can so much
happen in so short a time?
I still remember:
A collection of collective e-mails, pertaining
to subjects which interest me , but which are outside my frame of
preferences:
We’ve received from America a shipment of the book by
Thich
Nhat Hanh, the gentle Buddhist Monk from Vietnam, which
specifically addresses our situation here in the Holy Land –
Peace Begins Here: Palestinians and Israelis Listening to Each
Other. I was happily surprised to find a chapter
on “the Kingdom of God”which
discusses walking with God. So not only Jews and Muslims –
the Buddhists are learning to be flexible as well! It’s
a sweet and simple, practical book with heart. ......
And finally, now that we’re past the holy days, it’s
time for serious study. Ever since I was looking for the “universal
essence of Judaism” in my studies with Reb Zalman
Schachter back in the early 1970s, I have been translating
and reflecting on the teachings of Rebbe
Nahman of Bratzlav. I have yet to make a book out
of them, but I gave a short course on some of the key texts....
We’ll meet for six sessions this Fall, and focus on his
“Teaching of the Void.”
Also, I’m offering a new course at the Center for Oriental
Music in Musrara, in Hebrew, on “Sufi Music and Poetry”
focusing on Turkish Sufism, with parallels from the Hasidic
tradition. Let’s keep warm, and keep our hearts warm and
open!All the best,Ya’qub
A Buddhist monk and a Jewish Rabbi
Reb Nahman’s Universe
with Ya’qub ibn Yusuf a free, introductory evening
The hero of the first of the tales by Rebbe
Nahman of Bratzlav wakes up in the middle of his own
story to ask, ”Where am I in the
world?” In his teachings and his tales Reb Nahman
goes beyond the usual horizon of Jewish teaching to address
fundamental questions: Where are we? Where is God? How is this
world constructed… from the divine point of view? At the
core of Reb Nahman’s universe we find the figure of the
Tzaddiq or spiritual master – as
an archetype inside and outside us. We will pursue the
spiritual teachings of Rebbe Nahman by reading texts in Hebrew
and in English translation, learning authentic niggunim
from the Breslov tradition and sharing our questions. The
first section this Fall will focus on his “Teaching of
the Void.” This introductory evening will give a taste
of what is to come.
In order to differentiate between Rabbi
Nahman's "Void" and "Void" in Godchannel
[put "void"
in " Godchannel Search"!
in order to learn about its meaning there},
I looked for more info and found
this:
"Basing his theory on the doctrine of Isaac Luria that
the En Sof [the infinite God in kabbalistic thought] withdrew
into Himself leaving an "empty space" into which all
worlds could emerge, Nahman draws the conclusion that, in a
sense, the world is void of the full
presence of God. That is why, he affirms, man is bound
to have religious doubts and all his attempts at proving the
existence of God are doomed to failure from the outset. The
only way to find God is through faith which alone can raise
the human soul beyond the void."
Whenever
somebody uses the word "powerful" , I shut down.
Even Godchannel uses it - damn it! And whenever some "powerful"
tool, book, CD in the "spiritual realm" is advertised
for money, I am simply pissed off. I'm quoting part of this letter
as an example of what I usually delete, almost daily......

Lately I simply deleted the regular letters,

me,
IF I could contain MORE:
Hello everysoul!
So MUCH to report about! Here are a few thoughts though...
It is worth noting that due to the extreme polarization of
the US electorate on the eve of this critical election, each
side adamantly holding that if the other candidate gets in
the White House it will be the end of the world,......
Also of possible interest. ... to explore a bit the actual
evidence we already have on the presence of highly advanced
civilizations and their space crafts around, on and within
our planet, the moon and Mars. I found some pretty convincing
evidence, including this 4 minute video on an Ancient Structure
On The Moon Filmed By Armstrong in 1969. You will find MUCH
more on this topic in Items 4, 5 and 6 below (The Coming of
Nibiru - Message from Matthew - CoEvolution) including LOTS
of tantalizing UFO videos. There is also MUCH to discover
HERE... All this to say we already have plenty enough information
to take seriously the reality of another
much larger range of experiences awaiting us "out there"
once we are mature enough to deserve direct interaction with
this universal reality. We have to prove ourselves
worthy of such open contacts and that means bringing peace
on Earth, recognizing the sanctity of all Life and TRULY protecting
our living planetary mother ship.
To reach such goals, only Love and a thorough, sincere commitment
to spiritual awakening and living will enable us to "get
there" and finally take our first baby steps as Citizens
of the Cosmos.
"Over the past several days, your
planet has been experiencing
what can be described as a fear-inducing experience
that has been fostered in great part by the hidden hand of
the few elite controllers of your economic system
in a bid to create the conditions that would allow them to
further implement their world domination plans.
Although it may seem that they have reached their goal,
in truth they have only precipitated a growing awareness
of the ruthless and unconscionable imbalance in wealth distribution
that has been perpetuated for far too long and for the sole
benefit of a tiny clique of people.
Insofar as their plans for greater control are concerned,
they have failed
and the burgeoning determination of people worldwide to bring
an end to this mad slide into ever more inequity
will now become an unstoppable force that will ultimately
tear down the walls of oppression
—economic, political, military, or otherwise.
Yet the forces that have been unleashed through their intentional
degradation of the financial bastions of market manipulation
will now trigger increasing disturbances and open the door
to situations
that will require an ever greater level of cool-headedness
and spiritual compassion on the part of all humans
to collectively and cooperatively mitigate the consequences
of these disturbances
and set in motion the establishment of a whole new way of exchanging one's work and creative abilities
for the means necessary to live
a fulfilling and balanced life experience."
From "Quotes"
"The summer of 2006. I was approaching Camden High Street
one Saturday afternoon when a West Indian guy, who was unloading
his van, nodded at me. "When are you going to make your
move?" he said.
I was astounded. "What did you say?!" "When
are you going to make your move?" he repeated. I laughed.
"When are you going to make yours?" "Yeah,
yeah," he said dismissively. "But when are you going
to make your move?" "As soon as I possibly can,"
I replied. "How on Earth did you know?" He unloaded
the last of his boxes and slammed the van door shut. "I've
been watching you coming to the market most Saturdays for
the last two or three years, and it's so obvious you're going
to do something really amazing one of these days. And when
you do. . ." He shook his head and left the rest unsaid.
"So are we all," I said, and smiled and shook my
head at the extraordinary lengths the Universe sometimes goes
to, in order to deliver its messages, and went on my way."

Jean!
Here, to support all the wonderful material you keep writing,
collating and sharing with your readers,
to encourage them in their own searches and explorations,
is a memorable piece that I was led to last night.
I hadn't read it for at least ten years, and was so glad to
be reacquainted with it,
as it offers the kind of calm reassurance that we all need,
as we ride the roller-coaster into the future. . .
Love and thoughts and thanks, as ever, from London and Michael.

A Moment Of Quantum Awakening by Ken Carey
[received in 1988]
Excerpted from his book Starseed: The
Third Millennium : Living in the Posthistoric World
[HarperSanFrancisco, 1991]
At the moment of quantum awakening, change will occur rapidly,
rippling across the terrestrial surface like a wave.
Everything in the Earth's gravitational field will be affected
in some way.
There will be a time of massive change, of change on a scale
that has no historical precedent,
though it does have antecedents in prehistoric events of this
and of distant worlds.
The changes that your generation will experience
before it passes the torch to another
are more fundamental than those that accompanied the agricultural
revolution - and those changes took thousands of years.
They are more far-reaching than the changes of industrialization,
which took nearly three centuries to transpire.
Yet, deep and fundamental, massive though these present changes
are, they will occur within the span of just a single human
life.
Properly understood, these changes and their
coming have the ability
to inspire a degree of hope and optimism unprecedented in
the history of your race,
for they spell the end of humankind's subconscious condition
and therefore portend, as the scriptures of the world foretell,
an end to bloodshed, starvation, warfare, exploitation, and
merciless suffering.
Within your lifetime you will witness revelations
that will show the foolishness of much that was once deemed
wise.
You will watch as traditions and historical habit patterns
once assumed to be survival imperatives
are discovered to be detrimental to a healthy life and to
a healthy society.
We are rapidly dispelling what remains of
human illusion,
helping all to identify with the growing currents, the energies
and the forces of love and life.
You are already living in the dawning hours of the age of
planetary awakening, the age of peace and community-building.
Though there will be much awakening of individuals
prior to the first unified movement of the awakened planet,
this movement, like a first breath, will occur in but a single
moment.
Do not discount the possibility that the moment might come
as a thief in the night.
And do not be among the foolish who will wait until the last
moment to come to terms with the rising awareness.
This is to be an important occasion.
It is the event that is central to all of
human history.
Our emphasis for many thousands of years now
has been and continues to be to prepare you for this single
moment.
This event will be of greater power than any
the Earth has ever seen.
More energy will be released in a very few moments than is
typically released upon the surface of the Earth in many years.
This energy will take the form of
heightened perception and deepened emotional connection,
rejoining the individual and God.
As the new reality comes fully into human consciousness
- at the moment when the Creator's luminous field comes into
perfect alignment with the Earth Mother
- all illusion of a destructive nature will be dissolved.
Though there have been many centuries leading up to this moment,
when the moment comes it will be decisive.
NOTE from Jean: I also recommend
to your attention a detailed summary I wrote in 1991 of this
book.
Here is a little primer from this dense, soul stimulating
essay:
The Merging of Consciousness
Opening Starseed and reading its first chapter
is like merging one's conscious awareness with some highly
eclectic and vastly expanded level of perception and knowing
through which one may sometime feel a bit dizzy as when you
look down from a towering observation post.
The perspective offered by Ken Carey's cosmic guides is magnificent
and the sense of belonging to a vast body of conscious beings
gives an indefinable feeling of powerful
yet benevolent strength
[I think, I'll stop any quote the moment
I stumble over the word powerful...]
Note from Jean: I've often networked
in past compilations material and feedbacks from Ron Van Dyke,
who has been subscribed to this list since 1999.
I always find his essays most enlightening as he unabashedly
speaks his truth as he sees and feels it.
But in his new article below, Ron has really surpassed himself.
See for yourself and find out if you resonate with his eloquent
views as much as I do...
KNOWLEDGE IS NEVER NEGATIVE - ONLY IGNORANCE IS NEGATIVE!
Believe it or not, there really are many ego-driven people
who want to rule the world;
and some of them are rich and powerful
enough to conspire together, creating a plan to actually
do so.
George Orwell's famous, visionary novel 1984 gave a glimpse
of what that might look like;
.....
Finetuning
to my Present
Here I am ceasing to read altogether:
what in my eyes is definitely negative - is to focus
on knowing what is not relevant,
or worse, what is side-tracking me from my real task.
To know about all those "conspiracies"
etc. is not relevant for my task.
Even to know about the quantum-leap of consciousness
in the form of heightened perception
and deepened emotional connection is not really enhancing my
own work of healing into wholeness
and uniting Consciousness and Emotions as New Heart
in Body on Earth.
I, therefore, - it is 16;41 and Efrat and Mika will
soon be home - go back to my task,
which today expresses in FEELING VICARIOUSLY all the
denied feelings of humankind,
whenever I perceive and feel myself straying from total
self-acceptance.
I'll return to my tiny song:

Today's Play
At first we tried out the big paper sheets by stamping on them
red stamps (with "the help of " a ridiculous
plastic-stamping device
the pieces of which broke apart even before used,
and I had, again, to feel my feellings about what I judge as
Efrat's shopping addiction
- there is just never a day, on which she doesn't bring Mika
to a place to eat ice-cream
or to a shop to buy some toy, book, whatever) but though I added some excitement
to the dull work
by drawing funny shapes in between the stamped forms,
and though Mika today learnt to fill a green leaf with green
color,
instead of only drawing round or oval outlines,
there was not enough full-fill-ment
and she soon moved on to something else:
This had to do with three-dimensional geometrical forms,
which had to be squeezed through the fitting holes.
Her pretty face is spotted with the stamp color.
It wasn't at all easy for her to
find the right hole,,
but when she succeeded, she gestured "triumph".
"Come nearer to me",
she said,
and while she pulled my left hand,
I took her picture with the right one.
Now Mika wants to change location and activity.
She asks me to help her take her blanket to the livingroom.
There - without need from my side - she "puts to bed" an
imagined doll,
actually a cushion, on which she leaned to watch TV, when she was
smaller.
