Fine-tuning to my Presence
On the eighth day: Grandma day at Mazkeret Batya

It was four o'clock, when we finally left the house,
this beautiful, special, new house of Micha and Ra'ayah, Arnon and Ayelet
at Mazkeret Batya
Itamar had uttered the wish to go back to the "Field
of the Four Elements",
The beautiful new house of Micha's family at
Mazkeret Batyah

the ideal weather for the
Four to play a version of "Hide and Seek", which was unknown
to me, |
|
I made them pay attention to that slain palm-trunk
under the dry herbs

How strange, that there was again a puddle,
like on January 30!
Then it became too dark to discern the flight of
the ball,
and we moved to the street in front of the house.
Ra'ayah used the day to travel to Kibbutz Sa'ad,
to see one of her sisters.
But Micha has supper with us.
The last blessing-choreography on this grandma-day
after the last day of Chanuka:
the boys watch the girls with delight, after they had invented and expressed
their own blessings already.
Only the father/uncle, who participated in the meal, did not take part in
this ancient grandma-day-ceremony.

Five minutes before I had to leave,
Arnon wanted to let me hear one of his piano pieces,
he played the tune of Verdi's "La Traviata" with his right hand,
and with his left hand the chords, enriched by the keyboard.
I told him again, how much I envy him
for the delightful method According to which he learns to play.
I want to close with two little incidents which happened in the morning.
When they all sat there on the cold floor playing a game with little cars,
I said to Itamar: "You should wear your socks".
Ayelet, for some reason I forgot, said:
"I would bring you mine, but they are pink, you
might not like that."
"Ohoo!" I exclaimed
and pinned them down on this symbol of old-fashioned chauvinism:
"It would be alright if you, a girl, wore Itamar's
socks, but vice versa would be shameful, ah?"
We made a "code" out of this incident, just mentioning "pink
socks", when some chauvinist concept flattered around.
During the day I discerned this new clock over the kitchen sink.
"Doesn't it show a woman sitting on a chair, while the man does some
work in the kitchen?"
They explained, that no, in this case it was simply the image of a bar and
had nothing to do with pink socks!.
The other symbol, which Accompanied us during the day,
had its source in what I said to Yael after the process about coping with
fear,
in that case the fear to burden her mother.
"Are you aware, that you and Ayelet complement
each other like Yin and Yang?"
They knew, what I meant, and Ayelet searched for a way to draw,
what these girls often call "Yaelet", a combination of Yael and
Ayelet.
Finally she despaired of expressing "Yaelet" with the traditional
symbol of Yin and Yang
and used instead the upright symbol of infinity.
I glued them between the two Mandalas, Yael had drawn sometime during the
day.
