Immanuel's photo-experience of "Brazil" - parallel
to and still different from mine
It is still Easter-Sunday, April 24, 2011, in the
Ibirapuera Park of Sao-Paulo.
When we left the WATER exhibition - frustrated because no info in English
was available - it rained a bit.
We had a snack somewhere - again with a coconut for me and for Immanuel -
and then entered the Planetarium
There seem to be no pictures in my son's camera of our trip through the Commercial Area on Monday, April 25, 2010
After sunset in our hotel , on April 25, 2011 -
Tomer teaches Mika a card-game, called "Milkhama"
(= War, but in kids' way: the first syllable stressed, not the last as in
proper Hebrew)
"I always played it as a kid, when I visited
my grandfather", Tomer told.
Mika was exhilarated. Even I found fun in playing...
Immanuel came in and when he watched us , I asked him to take some photos.
On
our last morning, before going to the airport at 4 PM, April 26, 2011 we once more meandered through town and came across a company, which constantly changes the entry to their building. Now - just right for Mika, who always has wishes, there were thousands of clippings, where people could write down their secret desires, like people do at the Wailing Wall of Jerusalem. |
Immanuel's Girls - the last photos on our family-holiday in Sao Paulo!
We arrived at Shoham on April 27, 2011, around 5
PM,
at 8 PM my son brought me to Lod train-station and Tomer to his boarding-school.
3 days later Immanuel again flew to Sao Paulo as a pilot,
it probably wasn't easy to be there, in the same hotel, but without his family...
May 13-14, 2011 -the first "regular" weekend
with Mika,
while her father was in China and Hongkong
|
When the 2 hours bus from Arad arrived at Tel-Aviv,Central
Bus-Station, I had to wait for the bus to Shoham.
For the first time I discerned this picture on the wall, painted by the father
of a soldier who was killed in 1988,
In the night from Friday (May
13) to Shabbat there was a storm (unusual for this season),
with rain, crazy lightenings and thunders.
In the morning several things were out of order, for instance the ceiling
in my room.
It showed big stains of water....
Efrat is like I was in former times: her worries
go beyond all reasonable proportions.
Therefore, when Mika slips into her teenage beheavior, Imma looses her temper
....
Imma
was angry at Mika, and when Mika climbed up the stairs, she commanded: "You are not to go into MY room, go into Your room." For quite a while we did not hear anything, so Imma went up to check in Mika's room. There she found a big note glued to the door, and written on it with ever so many mistakes: "No entrance for Mothers! Mother!" Inside Efrat at first couldn't find Mika. But then she saw her under her desk. She had barricaded herself In the corner, behind her chair and the waste-paper basket. When Imma tried to appease her, she said: "Only if you are ready to open this pail!" |
Finally the pail opened, and Imma and I left the
room.
After a while Mika came down to my room:
"Come, I've built a tractor with the "Sabre"-pieces!"
I came
and was amazed and didn't even appreciate, how difficult it had been to make the pieces stick. I said: "since it's not a tractor, but a waggon, you could seat passangers in the back, and you could find a vehicle to pull or push." So she placed her worry-dolls in the back, and used a hamster with an electrical device, which let it do both - screech and move around crazily. It started to push the waggon alright, only to move aside after a short moment and leave the waggon alone. But it was great fun for both of us! And for me even more, since it was a real co-creation! |
Once the waggon was pushed to a place, that let Mika re-discover
a drawing, called "Family".
She remembered that she drew it for "Family-Day" in her former kindergarden,
last year.
"I can do better now!" she said and
I suggested: "So do it! Draw the same theme again
- now !"
I stayed with her and wondered - after she had placed the figures "Elah,
Mika, Abba" in front,
how she would find enough space for the other three: "Tomer, Imma, Alon".
But that wasn't a problem for Mika, she simply invented "windows",
through which the three family members would look into the scene.
And in between the "Family-Party" as she called it: fireworks!
And yet --- I also discerned,
that the new drawing didn't really show a progress in technique.
And why was it, that lately I saw so few paintings and drawings?
Once she would come to our desk and start to draw rightaway.
What had changed?
On May 19, 2011, Mika called me: "Look in your e-mail box I sent you a creation!" "From 'Maya's Secret' ?" "Yes" It was after 8 PM and Boris was visiting me. At first I said: "I'll look into it later", but then my right mind let me say: "Or do you want me to look at it right now?" "Right now!" The "Maya's Secret" includes a device for sending off a "creation" right away. I say "creation", since, as I said above, I cannot see much creativity in this. But now, in the morning of May 20, I think, that I might be wrong. To balance these items evenly on the screen is the same skill of balancing, which Mika demonstrated in her chocolate-tower! |
Imma - already overwhelmed with the technical problems
on this day - screams at Mika
and Mika again barricades herself, this time under the blanket on my bed...
The next morning, Sunday, May 15, 2011, an hour before
I would return to Arad,
I placed myself at the table across Mika, who ate her cereals while I drank
my coffee.
I very much wanted to part in a cheerful, fruitful manner, and I walked to
our chest.
From there I grabbed the tiny remnants of 4 Chanuka-candles, which I had brought
for her,
together with a pretty cloth I'd also brought for her, and 2 vessels from
our "restaurant-stock".
I lit the candles and said: "Since there is no
birthday child around, what do you want to do now!"
"I want to say a wish!"
"Yes, but - contrary to what you believe - you must say the wish right
out loud!
If you say the wish only in your heart, the waves that go out from it into
the world, are much weaker,
than when you send waves of your spoken words!"
It did seem to make sense to her, for she said out loud:
"I want to be a magician, when I grow up!"
and blew out the candles.
We knew about this wish, yes, we had experienced the truth of it, twice!
First: When I couldn't open my e-mail on the computer, Mika "prayed",
and after some frustrating attempts I found the right way to repair the bug.
More astounding was another event: I couldn't find my digital recorder!
I said to both, Mika and Efrat, that I get hysterical without this recorder,
since I need it to rehearse songs, like now the
song for Independence-Day.
While I went down to walk Nella outside, Efrat was searching everywhere.
Suddenly Mika said - while sitting on the sofa - "but
it's in her bag!"
I had turned this bag inside-out - twice - and so had Efrat after me.
And yet, the recorder was there in the bag, simply, innocently....
Now Mika wanted to repeat the game - four times I
lit the candles,
four times she said: "I want to be a magician"
and blew out the candles.
The last time the camera caught the flames exactly in the middle -
between burning and being extinguished....
