O Taeler
weit, o Hoehen
2007_04_30 O Taeler weit, o Hoehen |
Wenn es beginnt zu tagen, Die Erde dampft und blinkt, Die Vögel lustig schlagen, Daß dir dein Herz erklingt: Da mag vergehn, verwehen Das trübe Erdenleid, |: Da sollst du auferstehen In junger Herrlichkeit! :
Bald werd ich dich verlassen, Fremd in der Fremde gehn, Auf buntbewegten Gassen Des Lebens Schauspiel sehn; Und mitten in dem Leben Wird deines Ernsts Gewalt |: Mich Einsamen erheben, So wird mein Herz nicht kalt. :

She writes "Mika" on a stone which she picked up from the ground |
A moment later she enjoys a green fig which she plucked from a baby-tree |
Mika's father went on flight on May 15, as scheduled,
except that this time I did not "replace" him at Shoham,
since he took his two girls with him to Brazil, -
to Sao Paulo, where the El-Al plane would land
and to the holiday place at Bahia-Salvadora;
Tivoli
Ecoresort at Praia do Forte

What was exciting, even somewhat mystical,
was the part-time s y n - c h r o n i c i t y
in the literal meaning of the Greek word: "together-time",
of the Quartet's
first independent stay with me at Arad.
I am - in general - fascinated by s y n - c h r o n i c i t y!
I often image, what - in a certain minute- is experienced
by different people in different houses or towns or countries or continents.
You will see,
how wondrously the two threads of Bahia/Brazil and Arad/Israel intertwined
during one week in May 2010!
Mika and her parents arrive at Tivoli Ecoresort at Praia
do Forte in Bahia-Salvador, Brazil
"Independent"
means, that the "Quartet" traveled alone, by train and by bus between Lod and Arad, and the mothers needed to bring and fetch them only to and from the train-station of Lod, which cannot be reached by public transport directly neither from Modi'in (Yael and Itamar) nor from Mazkeret Batya (Arnon and Ayelet). My only help was, that I traveled to Beersheva by bus in order to show them, how to get from the train-station to the bus-station and the platform of bus 388 to Arad. When they returned 50 hours later, I only accompanied them to the bus at Arad, and though it was after the exit of Shabbat, and therefore almost dark already, they managed the transition at Beersheva without any problem. Unlike in Europe etc. train-stations in Israel are small. Here at Beersheva there are only 2 tracks, which both can be seen on these photos. I took them from behind the ticket barrier, when I saw them coming from the red train as almost the last passengers. (there is a story behind that...) |
On that very day , |
Why did they carry so much luggage, needing even wheels for their suitcases? This was partly due to the enormous quantities of food, which my daughter-in-love had squeezed into the luggage, most of it leftovers, as she always kindly gives to me, when we meet, some heavy kilos of carrots and potatoes (the latter was needed for our "Puree"...) which she herself had received from Sa'ad, the kibbutz of her family, but also food for the kids, though I had pleaded with both, my son and Arnon, that food for our "Grandma-day at Arad" would be solely at my own expense |
since planning meals and buying would be part of our "Game of Independence"! |
Even I, so used to traveling by train, am always scared, that "I won't make it through the electronic barrier", and indeed, Arnon's ticket swept through, while he was still stuck behind the iron bar. I had to chase for the director of the station, to get him to make a note on the back of the ticket, which then would have to be shown by Arnon on his return, so they would let him through "manually", not electronically... |
They rolled along my Khaelmon-Street, These rolling suitcases |
In contrast to Mika's and her parents posh beds, the Four will sleep on the mattresses of my veranda on which they now have their simple dinner |
A specially tasty lentil-soup , liked by all four, for a change.. is still warm and ready right away, when we reach my home. |
Itamar, who became 12 in February, and Ayelet, who'll become 12 in August, are children, who like to romp around.... |
