I and you shall change the World
2007_06_11 |
tune: Miki Gavrielov |
|
I and you shall change the world, I and you , then they'll come all! They said this long ago, before me- it doesn't matter, you and I shall change the world. You and I shall try from the beginning, We'll feel bad, never mind, it's not that awful, They said this long ago, before me- it doesn't matter, you and I shall change the world. I learnt it at the end of a mass-workshop (EST) , probably in 1979 |

It's still Thursday, August 26, 2010 and we are still in the pool
Some
time after we had arrived, we saw men preparing for "a happening". Mika was excited to be part of it, and when the main man invited kids to come up to him, at the edge of the pool, Mika was there one of the first. Instead of telling her and others: "I'm sorry, but I can work only with bigger kids." He manipulated her, asking about her name, repeating it, and then shoving her off: "I'll call you later!" Of course, he had no intention to do so. But that was only the beginning . His behavior towards the older kids was such, that together with the awful music I couldn't take it any longer and we moved to the interior pool. Now this man was gone and the outside pool was ours again. And whom did we see? Lia, Mika's "friend". I say "friend" in quotation-marks, because at former occasions in the pool Lia hadn't proven herself as a friend. The day before, when we also met her, Mika greeted her lovingly, as usual, but did not try to interact with her. Asked about this by Imma, she said: "I had so many other interesting things to do." I was proud of her! Today she did relate to her a bit more, as here in the company of Lia's brother |
Once upon a time Efrat used to paint. I discovered this painting and "knew": This is THE MOTHER! My daughter-in-love wanted to discard it. "No way!" I said, "It's place is here with me!" |
Mika
accompanied her mother to the doctor. Later she drew what she had experienced. I put the first autumn-leaves on her page... Another drawing, which she hadn't shown anyone, touched me deeply, in its intention as well as in its scarce technique: A girl and a boy in profile, holding hands. Below: two heart-children in frontal position, also holding hands. Mika's name within a heart completes the composition. I showed her the drawing and said: "I like this very very much!" So she sat down at her/my chest and drew another version rightaway, the boy and the girl changed places and the girl may be bigger than the boy. |
Just before supper she started a new activity:
"Please give me all my dolls, which are
above that box.
Except for the blonde doll, which you don't like."
When she had placed all the creatures on my bed,
she wondered herself: "How come, that I
have so many?"
I couldn't help mumbling: "Most kids don't
have even one doll"
and aloud I said: "When I was a kid, both
younger and older than you,
I had only two dolls, one was called Hansi and one was called Wolfgang."
She was very interested: "why only two?"
"There was WAR!", I said.
I didn't tell her, that "Wolfgang" was the name of my mother's brother,
who perished because of the
Nazis' Euthanasia program.
When the row of dolls was complete, Mika announced
its purpose:
"We are all friends, sitting in a spaceship
and flying around to find friends!"
But Imma called us, and the spaceship had no chance to start off.
Since I had to sleep on the bed, I ordered all the dolls back on that box.
The next morning she wasn't pleased with this. I had to return everyone!
Though Mika is dead-tired, she pleads with Imma to let
her watch "A Star is born".
It would be the last time, that she was allowed to stay up for so long.
Within less than a week kindergarden would start, and she has to get back
to routine.
I don't know, what caused Efrat to make this gesture and face of worry and
pressure.

On Friday, August 27, 2010, Immanuel was scheduled
to return only at 2 o'clock.
He would wait for Alon and his girlfriend Dana, who would arrive by train.
Tomer had come home for the weekend already the day before.
Usually I leave in the morning, but on this day I felt I should stay as long
as possible.
Before Efrat drove us to the pool one more time.
I had a chance to follow Mika's wish to play "reading-writing" on
the computer,
[I taught her, how to change size and color of fonts, and she wrote the names
of her family:
MIKA, ABBA, IMMA, ELAH, ALON, TOMER]
Efrat
had to clean the house, and once more felt fed-up with grandma's hairs everywhere, "even in the lock of the door". When I began my "assignment" with this family, after they had moved to Shoham, near the airport, in Dec. 2006, I pleaded with my daughter-in-love, who once used not only to draw and paint but also to sculpt, to be my "hair-sculptor". "You are totally free to do what you like, I'll agree to everything!" And so it came to be, that Efrat cut my hair about 3 times a year. "Next week I'll cut all your hair away - entirely, totally! Like when they cut you at the end of your time at Ein-Gedi, Oct. 1999!" [see a rare photo of my head - at the Dead Sea , in April 2000] Mika heard her mother's intention and protested vehemently. "No! I don't agree! No! No!" Probably not for reasons of beauty , but for the need to hold on to my familiar appearance. When I asked her, to make a photo of me with my still long hair, she first of all photographed the hair itself, with a much better result than some days before. |

"The
Four Species" are hanging to the left of my children's parents, exactly between them... See the song, which Mika already knows by heart: Aetrog, Citrus, Myrtle, Date, and Willow - these are Israel' Knowing and doing exist or don't - these are Israel! They shall make one union, Israel! They will atone for each other, Israel! An ancient psalm was given to the nation! A redeeming psalm also for the World! Without leaves- there won't be grapes! |
Ramat-Hadar behind our house 1973-74 Imma works and Micha studies. |
There was a song "typical" for the generation
before the Yom-Kippur war, which had forgotten all humbleness..
we heard it on that day and I noted the words
as much as I could understand them from the kind of recorder which we had
at that time.
Then we went out for a walk with our guest - in the citrus orchards south
of our village.
There ---- ALARM ---- "It must be a mistake", we all said....
