I focus my experiencing and awareness on being
"a   pioneer of  Evolution  in  learning  to  feel":
I let my Body vibrate and my Heart 'womb'

pain, shame, fear, boredom, powerlessness,
so feelings can >heal >guide>fulfill
>evolve,
and ~~~ offer ~~~"goldmines"~~~ to us all!!
"I want you to feel everything, every little thing!"

Elihav continues his interview with Immanuel in the documentary "Who are you, Masterchef?"

Chaim: "Immanuel is a man who learns,
he reads a recipe, he sees a TV show,
...he knows to analyze and reconstruct it.
"All my life I do things with the hands. I build, I do carpentry, just give me things to dismantle and to re-compose"

Immanuel is quoted from the Fabergé Eggs program:

".... and not to smash my delicate and precious crystal ball."
When he comes to the judges to present his ball, Eyal says:
"Aren't you ashamed to do this better than anybody else?"
Michal: "This is dangerously tasty!"
Eyal: "This is perfect, I can't bear it, I can't bear it".

"The home of the Rosenzweig Family at Shoham"
"I absorbed the cooking of my mother,
which I loved very much.
I've memories of flavors
of Imma's home.
My father, too, cooked,
he made experiments,
some of them amazing,
some shocking.,
yet he went along with them.
Around the age of 12
I had to choose,
how to participate in house-work.
I chose cooking....
But later I was exposed
to colorful cooking-books
and I fell totally in love .
In cooking there is always giving.
I rarely cook for myself alone."

"And now it depends very much
on whom I'm with ..
Here in this house,
I'm cooking for the family,
that's warm, that's simple.
I don't make sophisticated things.
When guests come,
then there is a bit of bragging,
Then I also think of the reactions"
Elihav finds funny metaphors
for this manner
of wanting to impress people
and both laugh.
Then:

"Give me a dish,
which you cooked during the program, which liberated you:"
"I think, the "chestnut-squash"
was the stone for the way."
[clip!]
"My heart was with the poultry-dish,
but then came the "twist" - ,
to choose between the 2 dishes.
There's a dish
in which I invested almost all the time.,
and there is a dish,
which I did in 10 minutes, which is almost raw...."

Eyal when he judged Immanuel's dish:
"Brave people are granted everything."

Immanuel:

"I disconnected my mind,
and went along only with my intuition
And the results were wonderful,
and the feedback was wonderful,
and this indicated something to me!"

Elihav asks Immanuel about his biographic beginnings

"You have quite a complex
family-history, right?"

"I don't know
at what stage
I understood
that there is a story which is not simple.

"I couldn't talk about it
at school ...
I was ashamed...

"And that's how I -
over the years -
keep it inside,
a bit repress it,
don't talk about it,
until at the age of 15-16
I was in a youth-camp
"A youth exchange
between Germany and Israel,
....we came to Bergen-Belsen in Germany,
and there it suddenly came out,
as if without any control at all
...simply some minutes
in the face of the tombstones
all the world tumbled down on me.
I came out with crying,
which continued for hours and hours...

"Fortunately there was a youth-guide
who was very special....

"Since then I'm coping ....

"The story which brought me here
to be a Jewish Israeli, is not self-understood.."
There is a connection between two historical edges
[Immanuel talked about his history in Program 7]
on the one hand, my grandfather from my father's side,
Franz Rosenzweig, the famous philosopher, among the fathers of modern Jewish thought
and on the other hand the father of my mother, a Christian, a German,
who served in the German army during World War II "
"He refused to join the SS,
but he did join the NS-Party"

[Rachel's comment:
I don't know if he refused to join the SS or never was asked to join. He joined the Party long before the War, since otherwise he could not have found a job in his profession of a beginning judge ( born 1911).
This doesn't mean
that he was against the party.
It seems that he woke up, a little,
when reprimanded for baptizing his daughter, me, and giving her
a Jewish-Christian name:
Eva-Maria-Christa.
When he had to wake up entirely,
it was too late:
In 1942 he got the order
to function as a military judge.
He knew, that this meant to murder rebellious soldiers.
He refused , was sent to the front,
and killed in Sicily, Auust 1943]
"She stayed long enough in Israel
to learn about Franz Rosenzweig
and also to return to Germany pregnant with me."

"So they employed him as a N.M. soldier,
who had to shoot down aircrafts.

My mother,
who passed the War as a little girl,
began to study theology
[how can 20 pain-filled years be summarized
in one sentence?....]

Slowly, slowly she grasped,
what had happened.
Till then she actually had no idea
about the holocaust.
And then through talking with a teacher,
who, by the way, was a Christian,
she also learnt about Franz Rosenzweig.
[see some hints in'Jewish-Christian, German-Israeli,]
Franz died at a young age, 43, in 1929.
His widow told her
[ told my mother in 1960}:
"Listen I've a son in Israel".

Rachel's correction:
When we sat - all the family - on one side of the last table during the Finale of Masterchef,
Immanuel's stepsister Dita laughed:

"He still doesn't get it, that you didn't return to Germany pregnant with him"
.

Therefore - for you my son - some passages - (instead of volumes) about your beginnings:
"After - in January 1959 - my eyes had been opened by Dr. Reinhold Mayer, my teacher at Tuebingen University,
many things happened to push me into both, deeper understanding and transforming my understanding into doin
g.

The main event, in hindsight, was - in November 1959 - Mayer's urging me
to apply for a scholarship from the German Government for studying at the Hebrew University in Jerusalem.
I would not have interrupted my studies, if not for the fact, that since a few months I was in love with Martin.
Since he was already granted with a scholarship for the USA in September 1960, I preferred to go abroad too,
instead of staying in Germany without him for an entire year.

The long and tedious process of receiving this scholarship for a year in Israel came to an end in June 1960,
exactly at the time, when I - who in that summer semester studied in Berlin - came to know Edith Rosenzweig.
"Do you know someone in Israel?" she asked, when I shared with her the news about my sailing to Israel in Sept.
By that time I didn't even know, she and Franz had a son, since in the letters, from which I could have learnt this,
I read so slowly - 5 pages were enough to help me live with my difficult soul for a while - that I never reached the year 1922,
the year, in which Rafael Rosenzweig, Immanuel's future father was born.

In Jerusalem I learnt Judaism etc., but only a course in Bible (by Uriel Simon, the son of Rosenzweig's pupil Ernst Akiba Simon),
and another course (by Meir Weiss) brought me in contact with what from then on was most important for me concerning FR:
I dare to say it strongly: "The only right way to interpret the Bible in its own context and as a way to help me live my life."
I did, indeed, meet Rafael Rosenzweig, his wife and those two children, who now participated with us in the Finale of Masterchef.
But I also did everything in order to separate from him: he was married and I was engaged - we hardly met during those 8 months.
For this purpose I even arranged my departure by boat 3 days after the end of the year at the University, on July 3, 1961.

And yet - I was meant to live this incredible double identity: I was to transit from the murdering nation to the murdered nation.

Mayer asked Rafael to conduct an Ulpan (course for learning Hebrew) at the Institutum Judaicum of the Tuebingen University.
Rafael, of course, would have refused cynically, if not for the chance, to be with me. "But only if Christa will be my assistant".
So we taught two very small groups, and to my misery, I was the "good" teacher.
When the course was over, Rafael wanted - despite his strong allergy against Germany and anything German - to make a trip.
He rented a car. Our last station was Frankfurt, his birth-town. It was predictable, that there the relationship would collapse.
The feelings of guilt, of loving a woman, to whom he was not married, and a German woman at that, were killing his soul.
After a tiny trigger of his abysmal hole, he turned into a monster. We suffered through a torturing night, with his decision to part.

And yet - I was meant to live this incredible double identity: I was to transit from the murdering nation to the murdered nation..

No word or look was exchanged when we woke up, sat in the rented car and drove south on what is called "the route of death',
the first High Road, built by the Nazi Government to help the 6 millions unemployed, without today's experience and knowledge,
that a road and a route and a track, which are exactly straight, will make people fall asleep. Rafael fell asleep.
When he recovered from the miracle that had saved us, he said: "Thus it should not have ended."
It was in that night, before he left for Israel, that- in a village on the way - I became pregnant with you, Immanuel!

This was in June 1962, when I became sure of this and - rejoiced!

The following phrases in Immanuel's account in the presence of Elihav I'm going to correct directly:
. I lived in a students' dormitory
and could stay there undiscovered
till November 1962.
Then a Jewish family,
holocaust survivors,
took me in.
On Dec. 9, I got the theme for my M.A.
"Israel & the Church
in the teachings of X"
.
I was supposed to deliver the paper
on February 9,
and on the same date
I was supposed
to deliver my child.
Yet you decided
to come to this life
already on
January 23, 1963.
When I came to deliver the 180 pages of my thesis,
I handed the professor also a photo of my baby,
with the biblical verses that explain your name
When he grasped, that I was unmarried,
and the father not only married, but a Jew,
and that I committed the incredible sacrilege
of calling my son "I M M A N U - E L "
the prophecy for and title of "Jesus",
he lost control and yelled through the university:

"Now you know why Hitler had to come!
Because all the Jewish bosses raped
their secretaries and house-maids!"

Rafael received a telegram, secretely,
and sent one back: 1.Samuel 1:2
7:
"For this child I prayed; and the LORD hath granted me my quest which I requested of Him".

All decisions were taken by ME.
I gave you your name,
I decided not to baptize you.
- yet another sacrilege...
I even decided for the third time,
to part from Rafael
for the sake of his family.
But he again made me come back
and in August that year he came.
He saw that there was no use
in keeping his marriage up further
In Febr. 1964 he got the divorce.
At the same time
you and I became Jews

in Frankfurt with the only rabbi,
recognized by the Israeli rabbinate.

In March your father came to marry, and on April 15, 1964, the three of us flew to Israel - my first flight in an airplane...

Back to Elihav's Interview with Immanuel

"And that's how with the years I learnt to accept this, I learnt to accept myself in this.
After all- today I'm capable of talking about this - freely - in the face of all Israel."

What follows this part of the interview,
is the clip which shows Immanuel's "battle-dish" , dedicated to a killed soldier,
which
"I shall never forget", as Michal, the judge, says in "Who are you, Masterchef?"

"It was terribly important
for Immanuel
that we would remember
that companion,
he ignored everything,
the dimension of time"

Chaim about Immanuel in "Who are you, Masterchef?"

"The great moment of Immanuel's breakthrough,
was the sweet Ravioli. That's where his change was."

I think that the first assignment,
which he needed to reconstruct...
he suddenly dedicated to someone on a feeling level

"that tastes good"

Immanuel: "This dish was born out of longing, out of love"

and that's why we got a ...dish... tasty to tears

Eyal:

"He can arrive
at the most wondrous places,
and it's difficult to know,
where he will arrive at."

Elihav meets Immanuel's family

"Elihav, see, what surprise I prepared for you.----
an homage to Elihav."

Elihav: "Did you do all this?"
[there was much more delicious food on the table, which all the 8 people of the technical team enjoyed as much as Elihav did]
"Yes, all of it"

"Where are Efrat and Mika and Imma?"
[We had to go upstairs during the interview, which would have been less irritating,
if they had told us beforehand, that according to their experience any person interviewed about his history
feels not natural in the vicinity of his family]

"And to get to know the Potter's Workshop
and to get to know your twin rib"

"... and this amulet, Mika, and the entire story"

"That's how he spoils you all the time?"
Efrat:
"There is always something to eat,
like in a classical Morokkan house."
"And all his dishes
beyond their splendid taste
and beyond the fun,
that somebody cooks
and I don't have to be
in the kitchen,
those dishes are
offerings of love.
That's how I call them.
It's his courtship.
that's his way of courting.

And when I complain:
'You don't love me enough'..."
Elihav interrupts : "Soufflé"
"He says to me:
'But don't you see?
I just prepared this for you!
This is my love!'
"
"And that's really it, that's really him"
"What is it you like among Abba's dishes for you?"

"Steak, Polenta and Nioki"
"What does it do to you, when you see him?

"Joy"
"How is it to see Abba on TV?"

"Exciting",
Rachel's comment: Did Efrat guess this question beforehand and teach Mika what to answer? And if so, why 3 dishes with 3 Non-Hebrew terms?????"
Elihav: "Dai", meaning in this case "I can't believe what you say", so Mika repeats the three terms, this time bluntly: [I'm not happy about the Steak...]

Immanuel's 6th birthday in kindergarden [w. Idith]

Among the many, many e-mails and phone-messsages, which Immanuel received and responded to,
there is one from his kindergardener during 3 years at Ramat-Hadar/Hod-Hasharon, where we lived.
Her name is Ahuvah, the loved on, and as her name so her essence.

"From the 37 years of my work I remember you among the most outstanding children".

Another letter, which touched us deeply, was from his trainer towards becoming an El-Al pilot,
a man, about whom people said:
"If anyone can deal with this man, it is Immanuel".
And the letter shows, what is hidden behind the harsh facade.

In the beginning Immanuel often took photos
of the beauty,
which revealed itself to him in the skies.
This one is called
"Wingtips Vortex"
and was taken in May 2004
his first year at El-Al

The photo was made by me on 2005_02_05, Kfar Wradim/Galilee,
where Immanuel and Efrat still lived then and which meant,
that the pilot had to travel up to two hours to reach the air-port!
The photo's subtitle: "after a wasted pilot's day", reminds us,,
that he drove all the way to El-Al, but the flight was cancelled.
