The Fractals of a Fig Leaf
a Composition for my son Micha's 36th birthday,
Note to pp21b, 2002_08_31; updated on 2003_07_19 during
"THE
TIME OF FRUITION"
I based this composition on a funny coincidence.
While searching in my book "Chaos" for the famous fractal set of
"Mandelbrot",
probably a Jew, whose name means "Almond Bread",
I read, that once the honor was given to another Jew, named "Feigenboim".
Scientiests talked about "the Universality of Feigenboim".
The name means "fig tree", which has such
symbolic meaning in the Bible,
and such
practical value for myself, day by day.
By then I already had scanned the fig leaf, which also has an important place
in the Bible:
Wo/Man covered (!!!!) their shame with fig leaves [Genesis 3].
my figtree with clean cut ground, and the
quartet
- Ayelet & Arnon
(Micha's kids), Yael
& Itamar (Ronnit's kids) posing for the little photographer, a neighbors'
kid.
Photo of one of the kids
Yael's photo: the first fig - on the background
of our town Modi'in, 25 km NW of Jerusalem
I asked Yael to photograph my sawing of dead branches
which still block access to the fruits, despite all the work I've done since
February
I asked Itamar to shoot this immense physical
effort of adding another cut branch to the already huge pile of dead branches
One leaf scanned by me
Detail of that leaf, showing a "fractal"
in the form of the Salt Sea and the Gulf of Aqaba

that leaf, to go out |

I thought I'd completed the sequence, but the unexpected happened:
Because of this reflection I added another fractal
sequence: my green windowpane,
created by two plants which climb up to my second floor from the neighbors'
garden.
I didn't plant them, I don't water them or otherwise tend them,
I just adjust them a little in the frame now and then.
Lately they started to intrude into the room and reach out
to the right - to my model of my
pyramidal tent and to my "altar" with my dead brother's painting
"the chapel",
and to the left - to the "The Little Prince", as I call an untitled
detail of a painting of David,
the only one he let survive.

To Micha's 47th birthday I gave him
Dov Yannai's book "Silver-Ace"
allowing him to give it back to me, if it wasn't relevant for him,
and I sent him this letter with the Rap-Song about "the Feeling King".
