and tune:: John Lennon 1971 Today I'm critical of this song, and so was Lennon himself, calling it: "chocolate-coated for public consumption" Still it became "Lennon's signature tune and remains a powerful plea for world peace " |
from puzzle piece 36: September 11 On Sept. 21, 2002, I zapped into a Peace Concert in Rome with mayors from many towns in the world, It closed with all the artists singing John Lennon's Imagine, led by Achinoam Nini, who started in Hebrew and by her Palestinian colleague, who followed in Arabic, towards the joyous finale "and the world will be as one". I managed to record and photograph part of the scene |
Imagine there's no heaven Imagine there's no countries You may say I'm a dreamer Imagine no possessions You may say I'm a dreamer |

To
Achinoam , response to her India Report on Nov. 4, 2011
Thanks, Achinoam! YOu say: Your - again so very good - account
this time reminded me of my 3 months in India in 1998: One pain/shameful phenomenon,
which you didn't encounter, Except for the beautifully dressed
women and some very brave women, thanks for listening!

It is Monday, August 23, 2010, and Mika is still on holiday.
This
gives me a chance to follow her continuous flow of activities and be an either active of passive part of those. If it weren't for Imma's obsession with control ("did she eat? wasn't she bored? she doesn't go to any action outside the house, next year I'll leave her in a kids summer-camp till the middle of August") and my own - obsessive - need for intense intensity , this would be truly "Heaven on Earth". Still, I'm grate-full beyond expression for having been chosen as so close an actress in Mika's drama, and not only because of the joy in this, but also because of the lessons for me. For instance, she tells Imma, that Savta "is always angry with" her, and that Savta "always wants to lead and command what has to be done". Though in "reality" I hardly ever feel, leave alone express, anger , and though in "reality" I give Mika the absolute lead and initiative and rarely ask, if she would like to do this or that, I was triggered. Triggered in the hole that says: "Efrat might believe Mika after all, Efrat might not be content with me!" I "dealt" with the feelings of this hole alone, and then I decided to have a talk with Mika, though I knew, that she started to hate "talks", which she has to take often from Abba and Imma I tried "to guilt" her as little as possible: "Mika I know what caused you to lie to Imma! You are longing to be with Imma, and you thought, that if you slander me (do you know the word: le-hashmitz?) Imma will take pity on you and stay with you. But it is much better, if you say your true feeling: 'Imma, I'm longing for you. It's fun with Savta, but I still want to be with YOU.' Even if your wish cannot be fulfilled in that moment, Imma will hug you and comfort you, and so will I! Remember, Mika! This is very, very important: Always tell people your true feelings!" I had the impression, that deep inside she "got it". |
I sit on the floor, |
More feet, more hands, but also grandma's head from behind. It looks white, but Mika keeps saying: "Your hair is growing black again!" which is what the hair-cutter said to me in Eilat in 1998 |
She endangers herself on this wobbly chair. It's Abba's chair, which needs to be in my room, until Mika's room will be built into the flat upstairs and the corner of her bed in her parent's room will then become Immanuel's study |
She asks me to make "a poster" with the 4 phone-numbers, which are most important to her, now that she knows to use the phone . The first two, Imma's and Abba's cellphone numbers, she already knows by heart. Then I write grandma's number and the number of their cable-phone |
Abba follows Mika's phone-call into the room from
where she's calling him
I don't remember, how we suddenly found ourselves in the messy room of her brother Tomer. |
She helps herself with sheets from the bed and begins to dance and improvise a performance |
She transforms into "an old woman", walking with a stick... |
Another transformation: "I'm
getting married!" (ani mitkhataenet)
In the room, into which she steps down to,
this declaration is lightening up two faces - for a second.
Worrying news had arrived about Alon, Mika's stepbrother, and Immanuel and
Efrat try to find a solution.
Later that night Immanuel goes on flight to Los-Angeles.
The next holi-day, Tuesday, August 24, 2010, will be special:
Mika's cousins - Rotem, Yael and Itamar - arrive from Modi'in
and spend the day with us till 7:30 PM, in various combinations.
Rotem is in trouble and the others let me support
her in privacy.
When Rotem feels a bit better, she, too, wants to
join us for the pool.
This time there is nobody to drive us, but neither is it difficult to walk.
Even on our way home - despite the terrible heat - we walk the 16 min.
while MIka is riding on my back part of the way.
