FAMILY CONSTELLATIONS
Awakening healing within the depth of the Soul
What is Family Constellations?
Family Constellations is a form of
“systemic family therapy” that has become widespread
in Europe. Thousands of people have experienced this way of
working with good results. This method was developed by Bert
Hellinger, a German psychotherapist and former priest.
Every person is part of an
extended family system. Many ongoing problems in relationships,
in marriage, at work, but also chronic disease, depression,
problems with drugs, repeated accidents, may be caused by an
unconscious entanglement with a family member. This may be a
living relative, it can also be someone who is already deceased.
Through identification with and loyalty to the fate of a relative,
we take upon ourselves a role that isn’t ours. We are
doing this out of love for our family, our parents and grand-parents.
We believe that by ‘carrying the burden’ for others
we can repair the disturbed balance in the family system.
How does it work?
In a Family Constellations seminar
participants do individual work under the guidance of the facilitator.
When one person works, some of the other participants represent
members of the client’s extended family. With the help
of this constellation the entanglements in the family show themselves
in a simple and moving way. The invisible can become visible,
without fear, without judgment. By seeing this reality, our
soul is touched on a deep level. The facilitator will then suggest
movements and sentences to the representatives which have a
healing effect on all those present in the constellation. Constellations
have proven many times to have a lasting effect on participants,
they help us to lead our own, independent lives, no longer unconsciously
shackled to the fate of someone else. The work often influences
relatives who weren’t present; not just the client, but
the whole family system can reach a new balance.

I myself
took part in a Family Constellation workshop on January 13,
2004.
And so did Yanina and Evelyn from our AUschwitz-BirkenAU Retreat.
Since I couldn't take photos, I chose this
client painting on the wall, which kept moving me...
