Singing&Sounding keeps me Sound
The Day is Nigh
2007_04_15 the day of my and my son's Aliyah to Israel in 1964, also the day of birth of my daughter's eldest child Jonathan, 1991 |
lyrics:
Traditional |
tune: The Ashkenazi Version |
The
tune I know and sing can be heard - performed by Shuli Natan - on a website for "piutim"- liturgic Hebrew songs {does not always work} |
(My translation:) Though this is a song, which in Ashkenazi homes is
sung on Pesach Eve,

"....Manifestation is meant to be
a playground
where being and doing are fun..."
[Godchannel,
Second Interview with the Folks]

What helped me to make her detach
from the water-tower area,
were several young pomegranate trees close to my chosen path.
We are both fans of the pomegranate tree, leaves, flowers and fruits.
(See
my tree in spring - in "my" garden at Arad]
I show her the difference between
an orange-reddish blossom and a dark-red-brownish embryo of a fruit.
When we picked several blossoms, some lost their petals right away.
Thus she could discern between a still green "embryo"
and an older, brownish one.
While holding a sample of these two stages
of fruition in one hand
she keeps her two utensils in the other hand.
The green spade-shovel will now become her camera.
she clicks and --- "do you see the photo I've taken?" |
Mika is already looking for a new game and she finds it:
|
Again she gets exited (like me) by the Sabres, of which
I've talked often on this side.
Where they appear in some landscape, there usually has been a village at some
time.
She has to be convinced, that Grandma is not skilled enough to pick
the thorny fruits,
This has always frustrated me, since I cherish the fruit and Nature gives
them for free.
But the extremely thin thorns of Sabres are extremely difficult to remove
from the skin.
And though I learnt, that the fruits have to be rolled in the sand, there
is no sand around!
Mika tries to hack them off with her "hoe", but they fall into the
herbs and disappear....
The last experience on this rich outing was the encounter
with an overhanging cocos-palm
The Eve of Shabbat receives us, when we come home
"Come to shower", Imma calls, and Mika - after having thrown off her shirt: "Now I look like a boy!" |
Of course, she wants to lay the table and ornament Imma's and Grandma's plates ...
After Shabbat dinner we are ready for something I've yearned
for,
to watch "The Prince of
Egypt" together with Mika.
Tomer had succeeded to download it from the Internet.
Former videos I had saved in my "Favorites"' "Through Heaven's Eyes", Hebrew Version Efrat:
And to me she says: |
For
instance, when Moses feels, he has to part forever from his "brother", now Pharao Ramses, the pain in Ramses is shattering. "But why does Moses do this to his brother?" "Because though he loves Moses, it's more important for him to be the Pharao, he thinks he needs to be." She gets very upset: "But being Pharao shouldn't be more important to him! The most important thing for him should be to be a Jew!" By "Jew" she meant: "a good human being"! For this is what had pierced her mind through all the recent stories about Pesach, Holocaust Day, Remembrance Day and Independence Day, that the Jews, - always persecuted - were on the "good side"..... |
