19 hodayot [thanksgivings]
to Ra'ayah Rosenzweig, my Daughter-in-Love
Why nineteen? Because I've known Ra'ayah for 19 years now, and 19 is a cycle of time in Judaism: 7 "pregnant" years among 19 years i.e. 7 years with an inserted 13th moon-month, keep the moon year and the sun year synchronized. A month after Ra'ayah's birthday I dicovered this article: |
Ra'ayah, you delivered all four children
of Ronnit, my daughter, your husband's sister.
But there is only this one photo which shows you with one of them, with Rotem.
It will serve as a background image for 19 hodayot
I chose two means and ways of expressing my GRATe-FULL-ness to you, Ra'ayah: 1) In laminated paper, handed over to you on the family's celebration of your life. 2) As a sculpted page including photos of your last 19 years on HEALING-K.I.S.S. Know, Ra'ayah, that the one who has given me the basic idea, was my other daughter-in-love: Efrat Rosenzweig. She also helped me by preventing me from making the paper-gift too crowded, by choosing just one image of you, that she considered as presenting you best. And it was her, who took care of the graphical editing and lamination of my gift! |
While
completing my final version, before sending it to Efrat, there suddenly seemed to be only 18 hodayot. I did not have to think much to add one other hodayah. But now, when copying the paper-creation to this page, I discerned, that there indeed had been 19 hodayot, but because of an error between the 14th and 15th hodayah, it had seemed, that one was missing. |
As you know - and smile about me - I find meaning
in everything.
The addition of a 20th hodayah reminds me of the birthday habit,
- which is a habit only in Israel, I think -
to lift a child into the air as many times as the years s/he has lived,
and then we lift it one more time and sing:
"that you may live the next year
- until 120 years!" |
