This is Chava Alberstein's painful version
of the ancient Aramaic song
HAD GADIA
(One Kid),
meant to amuse after the Passah meal.
It tells, that father went to the market
and bought a kid for two zubeen,
"a small kid, a white kid", she stresses
but then a sequence of liquidations starts,

the kid is preyed by the cat,
the cat is bitten by the dog
the dog is beaten by the stick
the stick is burnt by the fire
the fire is quelled by the water
the water is drunk by the bull
the bull is slaughtered by the butcher
the butcher is killed by the angel of death

How come that you suddenly sing Chad Gadia
spring has not yet arrived and Pesach has not yet come.

Then, referring to the "Four Questions"
(What is the meaning of the exodus from slavery,
is asked in different froms by four different sons,
the clever, the wicked, the naive,
and the one who doesn't know how to ask):

This night I have another question
until when will this circle of horror go on

The persecutor and the persecuted
the stick and the beaten
when will this madness end

And referring to the "ma nishtanah",
"what has changed"
(see pp55, 02_03_28)

today I'm a leopard, a preying wolf,

My father bought a kid for 2 zubeen
and everything is starting again.
