The HolyDay-Holiday of Yom Kippur [Sept. 21-22, 2007]
Second Page |
In the early afternoon I feel the desire to walk alone through the empty streets.
I was sure, that even the children would take a rest,
but no, both children on bikes and grownup walking, were enjoying the holyday-holiday
Looking towards the east end of the town, the penguin circle
(almost every juncture of Shoham is a circle, called after the names of birds)
Walking towards the west, I finally meet a car
- an ambulance
Two children drive down the street, two children drive up the street, right or left, it doesn't matter |
Some people go back to the Cultural Center to pray Mincha, the afternoon prayer, others pass by, because they come from other synagogues. And again the children on bikes, korkinets and roller-blades. |
Now I turn around the Cultural Center to the left (south),
to savor the empty parking lots opposite the Commercial Center.
I know Efrat's and Immanuel's severe problem, when they need to find a place
for their car here.
The Commerce, no selling, no buying, no cars , no parking troubles, just kids on bikes... |
At the end of the Commercial Center : the nightingale square and from there to the left, up the Maccabee Street to the Swallow Square |
On my walk back home I again pass the Swallow Square,
completely empty.
Then I enter our street, Ha-Mitzpaeh, the View
I'm attracted
by the intimacy of an old couple coming out of our street, on their way to
the synagogue;
by the beauty of a little girl in our street,
by the caring of a father for his bike-riding daughters, also in our street
I am back home , the -invisible - southern side
of the house behind the cocus-palm
to the left a little boy on his korkinet, to the right two religious boys
walking
The end of Yom-Kippur, of the holyday-holiday, draws near.
Mika would like to play around with some of the kids. |
